Hello,
I have happily purchased many a knife from the forum over the last several years and have been very happy with the results. I recently purchased a knife from what appears to be a well known forumite and this particular transaction has gone south.
This incident started on 2/8 when I purchased and paid for this knife using paypal. My payment posted the same day it was sent on 2/8.
The knife was described as "This knife is new and in close to mint condition, and the edge may have been lightly sharpened. I have stored this knife in my safe with a light coat of oil"
There was a fuzzy picture included and this particular knife has a presentation box with the label and model on a metal plaque on the outside top of the box. The picture depicted knife sitting on top of the box with the plaque obscured by the knife.
Everything has always gone well, the seller has been around forever so I bought the knife.
When I recieved the knife the first thing I noticed was that the presentation box was poorly covered with a coat of shellac. The shellac was covering the plaque.
Then upon opening the box and removing the knife for inspection I found the blade of the knife has sharpening marks across the face of the blade.
So I reply to the seller:
"It would have been nice to know that the knife box had a bad shellac job
where they even lacquered the label on the box; but that was craftily
covered by your display photo. When someone says "the edge may have been lightly sharpened" I would take that to mean there are no sharpening
scratches across the face of the blade as the knife you sold me has."
O.K. so I was to blunt or maybe I'm an a**hole.
Then the seller replies:
I have refunded your money in full. You can choose either
to Send me the knife back to
XXXXX
or
paypal me what you feel the knife is worth.
So the seller attempts to refund my payment on 2/17. It does not post until 2/23.
During this time frame the seller then demands that I return the knife at my expense.
I state I will return the knife and let him know when I do; but my work schedule prevents me from doing this before the end of the week.
During and since this time frame I have recieved emails containing profanity and most recently threats.
Alright so here it is on the forums. Go ahead and let me have it or tell me what you think.
