Iconic Benchmade

For me-----it has to be something with an AXIS lock-----I had no interest in BM liner lock knives(still don't)----the AXIS lock is the game changer, now I don't look at, use or even bother with anything else.

Probably the Grip/Mini Grip because they are so widely available and somewhat affordable.

More AFCK goodness.

Don't care for the ~4" 800, but the ~3" 812 is the best-fit-to-my-hand blade-length all-around knife (in M2) I've ever used.

^^^ Some well loved knives there...

I woul love to see what one of the AFCKs feel like in hand. That space before the blade makes me wonder.

I think the Bali-Song is the hands down icon for Benchmade. This one was polished to a shine by Matt Cook.

I sure would like to get my hands on an AFCK, if only they'd make a new model, guess I'll scrounge the interwebs looking for one.

Already stated the original AFCK is Iconic, but does anyone know the exact production dates for the standard 800 & 812 AFCK's with round opening hole.
Thank you,

When I think of Benchmade it`s the 42 that first pops into my head.

Thank you,

All I can tell you is, it was before 1999 - that's when I bought mine.

I would say the griptilian because alot of people can associate a griptilian with benchmade, and in term of sport stores and B&M stores that sell benchmades that I've been to they have all had a griptilian & barrages but didnt have a 710.

The 710 is iconic, but the griptilian is probably the mainstay. The griptilian is the knife comparable to the Spyderco Endura as a working knife.

I think if there was a poll done, and probably was, the Grip series would be at the top. Not to say the 710, 530, 940, and others wouldn't be in the running.

IMHO the Balisong would be the original Benchmade claim to fame as Pacific Cuttlery. As a folder I think the 710 has held it's ground to either the old and new
versions of knives that have come and gone. The 710 is, other than the steel used in the blade, one of the few that have lasted the years without any change to it's grind, basic design, or scales. It is the first Benchmade folder I bought and got it in the M2 steel. Just bought one in D2. Can not give you any input as to the difference between the two steels as I have never used the M2 model.
Be safe all and this is just my simple opinion, Frank.

M390 805, 806, 710, 730, S90V 940-1, Ritters, then work backwards. 42 Balisong, auto's, Picking up M2 blade steel, etc. It never ends...........
