I'd like to see a Becker hatchet

You should check out the Estwing hatchet. At around $35 its a steal. carbon steel, full tang, stacked leather grips, leather sheath, and best of all made in the good ole' USA. It'll take a razor edge too. Easy to find online or any box store, blowes, house despot, maybe Wally, got mine at that place that sells craftsman tools.

Now that I'm thinking about it, KaBar could use the design and make a stacked leather grip like the F/U...that'd be really sweet.

so it turns out that Ethan likes those, and would rather mod one, than make oen, because in roughly his own words, it can't be made for less with value, than you can buy already.

so "no"...

also Estwing already had stacked leather handles. also taking their design would be wrong.

Fiskar's/Gerber's already specializes in making the best 21st century axe. hard to beat that. though 1-2 companies are trying.

Never said copy, plenty of other leather stacked blades out there. What I mean is with the F/U style stacked handle.

Oh really???

I am assuming this is said in jest?
Not even...some of the fuuuuugliest knives ever..no, I just don't get it, never will. Don't get me started on price point for a folder...

Rather than a folding E-tool, I'd like to see a Becker interpretation of a Spetsnatz shovel.
Yes that would also be awesome :) I own an est wing hatchet , no matter how long I bastard file the edge , it's still blunt. Mind you it's been sitting around for years unused , so that's probably why.

Used to think the same about the fuglies.....until I took a chance & bought one. Now I understand how form and function go in one's hand. Why you felt the need to mention that.....not so sure.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, tho.....

And some scissors. Becker scissors would be awesome.

I am not a Spyderco fan because of their looks. I also like Glock pistols, sometimes the best tools aren't the most asthetically pleasing.

Inherited this vintage c01 satu and I hate it. Would trade it for a Becker any day.
Have not found one single thing ever for it to be useful. It's ugly and worthless. Funny thing is, I could get good money for it, no idea why.

I'll grant you, that's pretty damn fugly....and really, fully srrated are worthless, IMO. So sell it and let someone who wants it pay you good money, then turn that into the Becker of your choice. Or get a nice looking Spydie. No wonder you don't like them, if that's all you got to go on. Maybe get a PM2 or a Millie, Manix 2 or a Southard. There are a lotta 'Heads who own Manix's and PM2's. I will say that even their China made folders are of pretty high quality.

OK, back to Becker hatchets. My vote is still for a tomahawk. Though I do love my Fiskars hatchets....there's no way KB could compete on price with those. Maybe it doesn't have to be made by Ka-Bar....other designers have designs with different companies. The CRKT 'hawks are RMJ designs....can't touch one of those things price-wise if it comes from RMJ Tactical.....

The name is Becker knife and TOOL. so really anything is possible. However Kabar does not really make folders, hatchets, or scissors. So I think the likelihood of anything other then a knife from them is slim. Then again I don't think you could truly call the bk3 a knife. It is more of a tool. And Kabar does make a few folders but nothing close to what a Becker grade folder would be.

It's ugly, sorta looks like a Nile crocodile, (narrow long nose, lots o teeth)
Trade it in and buy something better would be the logical thing to do
(unless it was a gift, cuz that would be bad form)

I use my BK 4 as a hatchet
It does all and better than a hatchet

Is it better than a 9 at chopping?

I'm told they're very close in chopping performance.

Similar...but different. The sweep of the 4's edge bites a little deeper, IMO - but the 9's flat edge can take just as big a bite since more blade enters the wood, if that makes sense. I'd probably go with the 9 for straight chopping...but IMO the 4 is a more versatile woods bumming tool and feels lighter & faster. Not as good for batoning and, being a recurve, harder to sharpen. As long as there isn't a BK&T hatchet, I'll take my 4 into the woods. And my 12. And a couple others.....;)

Not had any hands on time with the 4, but I'm guessing it has a wider grind, looks forward heavier than the BK 9
So lends more energy to the blow,

It chops like a kukri not like a knife or machete
So it has a faster and heavier swing because of the front weight
