I'd like to see a Becker hatchet

Y'all are frikkin' enablers.

I don't even own a Becker yet (next time I drive over to SMKW and they have a BK-16, I will). But I cruise here in preparation for owning one. And I like hatchets. So I see this, and am in Home Depot today. What do you know, they have the 14" Estwing hatchet. Never looked at them seriously before. Looking through the 10 or so there, there is one of them that still has a Made in USA stamp on the sheath. The rest of the sheaths claim that the sheath is made in Taiwan, and the stitching is a bit different. A sign, I think.

It's now sharp. It's drawn blood when I ran my finger along the edge (after some diamond stones and stropping). You all should be ashamed of yourself, causing unsuspecting people to buy hatchets and all....

i think that if kabar/Becker released a tomahawk, it would quickly become an envied piece of gear for lots of troops. My brother was a navy corpsman, and thus deployed with Marines most of the time. He's known me as a "knife nut" since we were kids, so when the conversation finally came up he said that most of his unit loved and adored Classic kabar knives and a lot of guys carried Hawks despite the practically unnecessary additional weight. And that most of the time, some guys carried knives while others carried Hawks. Not many carried both, so it could be a pretty successful niche if kabar/Becker produced something to bridge the gap between the two.

I think I'd still prefer to carry a bk9, 7, 2, or 4 -but I've never had to hike out with a 90 lb ruck & full armor/ammo/weapon systems. I guess it depends on what your specific duties come down to.

I guess I'm just trying to say, kabar is already a renowned combat knife. Wouldn't be too far fetched for them to create a tomahawk and become another classic military edged weapon/tool.

I like hatchets more than tomahawks, personally. I am less tempted to throw them. lol.
I would totally buy a Becker hatchet for Search and Rescue. Make a combination sheath and attach my 9 to it, and we are in business.
