Idaho made engraving on nyala

The stamp evidently bothers some, it does not bother me a bit. I have a Bob Dozier that says "Arkansas Made" on the blade. I have a Sebenza that says "Idaho Made". I also have a Mnandi. I scratched "Idaho Made" on the ebony inlay with a rusty nail. ;)

One of the things I so loved about my older Sebenza was that the pure, simplicity of the design with out frills or decoration. Just pure function. To me, the inscription detracts from the beauty of the knife. It's not going to stop me from buying them, buy I do prefer them without.

I fully understand how proud people must be of where they live, but why is it that we all are made to live the same dream... I agree that while these knives are nice to look at they are all said and done TOOLS as you have suggested, and boy I have lots of them.. But however hard I try and look at it I am being told that when I buy a Crk knife that I must also accept his love for his country by means of an engraved blade or handle, I would of thought there were better ways of still expressing his love for where he lives other than through his business venture.. Buy the T shirt so to speak...

If this is to be accepted as a tool then why must we endure his desire to tell us about the love for his country which has no relavence with the knife or tool in question.

When we see Made in USA dont we expect a higher quality product? Maybe he wants others to think the same about Idaho. Nobody making you endure anything. Go buy a different knife. Are there even any knives with no country of origin stamped on them besides customs?

Yes the ones that Crk use to make before he stamped them..... Pure simple Crk logo no need for anything else.... But he wants it both ways now first off all he makes them just like "most" people like them for years then suddenly decides to tell us he loves where he lives and tells us your getting it if you like it or not,,, as the poll suggested the greater majority either don't like nor don't care, don't mind which tells me it should have been left alone...

If he wanted to put made in Idaho on his knives this should have been done from the start so everybody knew what they were getting.. There is nothing worse than having design change midway through...

I wonder how many people would not buy the knife it it didn't have the logo on it.....

When was the stamp put in play? Over a year ago at least. That's when the real complaining and head-butting was going on.

You really missed your window leadblaster as this has been beaten to death. I hated it and said I'd never buy another Sebenza - but I did buy a few more. The stamp wasn't put on for pride. Chris clearly stated that it was to protect himself from the Chinese clones. As if that stops them right? He may have morphed it to State pride over time who knows?

For me, the stamp isn't a white elephant in the room, it disappears after the first day or so and it's on the away side of the folding Sebenza (not sure on yours).

I think any of Chris's stated or implied reasons for the stamp are ridiculous but the man is hard headed, successful and doesn't care one little bit what we want. So I figure -

Like Ric Flair said "like it or not, learn to love it!" WOOOO!:D

Yep totally agree, missed my window big time....

I had been told similar with regards to the Chinese copies, however who,s being silly now mr reeve... How many customers has he potentially lost due to the Idaho made logo going on vs leaving it alone and letting the poor people whom can't afford to buy the real deal anyway...

The cr logo was enough to tell people that the product oozed quality and buying from a reputable dealer would have or should have secured buying the real thing...

Maybe Chris put it on there for Anne, Heather, Lisa, and Jessie.......Idaho maids.

Don't like it don't buy it. Its as simple as that.

I'll say I'm not that big of a fan of the aesthetics of the stamp but I'm not going to argue
with CRKs reasoning for wanting to proudly state Idaho Made. And if the stamp is really that unbearable than put some work into finding an older model on the 2nd hand market.

Several months ago, Chris spoke with Leadblaster on the telephone about this issue and Chris made it very clear that he was not going to change the Idaho Made engraving. According to the email conversation Leadblaster began with us on May 29, he purchased the Nyala “around 12 months ago”. There have been multiple subsequent email exchanges between him and me; essentially, each email requests an Nyala with no Idaho Made. I have reached the point where I can't say any more except:

It has been said before and I will say it again:
• Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
• We do listen to what our customers say, but we make our own decisions.
• We appreciate and value the loyalty of our customers and take nothing for granted.
• Integrity and courtesy (right along with outstanding designs and close tolerances:)) are the cornerstones of our company.
• Idaho Made will be engraved on all the products we choose, and we do not offer an include/exclude option.

Thanks Anne!
I have spoken to you and Chris many times at Blade, and both of you are all class. You have helped me very, very much twice at Blade. You even let me swap an unused knife I had just bought for the new micarta Inlay model the year it was introduced.

Don't worry one bit about what only a few have to say(over and over), and just keep doing what you do best.
Sometimes I wonder if some of these people realize how lucky they are to have no REAL problems to fret about.
Thanks again,
Kenny

I like this topic and it bugs me when people say this has been beat to death........you know what has been beat to death? The bizillion posts along the lines of " man I just got a sebenza and love it so much". At least this is a connoisseurs topic, you have to be pretty into CRK to have an opinion on this. I have 23 sebenzas, one of which is IM. It bugs me. It takes away from the clean simple beauty of the sebenza. But if it was designed better, not upside down and backwords, cooler typeface, etc. I might not be so turned off. I own a number of classics and that mark is fine with me.

I really hope it is refreshed for the 25.
