Therefore, between a jaded sense of company pride which I once near worshipped as being above reproach and a general disgust of forum traffic, I am out of both Chris Reeve Knives and here.

Mark

So too, are the Days of Our Lives...:D

Well I happen to like it. I tried to give the knife justice by my photo but it looks much nicer in hand;)

Just my opinion from looking at the poll results-Chris needs to seriously rethink the Idaho Made stamp when only just over 15% of his fan base actually like it and around 50% would not buy. I mentioned it before, but will again-I think it would be fine on the tang-still make his point but as an accent to the knife rather than a bold display.

Thank you for all your sometimes passionate oppinions. But I can not please everybody all of the time. It is there for a reason that is important and is not going away.So calm down and be happy.

Wow, that is the best explanation Chris Reeve can come up with. Most of us are not questioning the importance of the “Idaho Made” stamping, just the size, upside-down orientation, and placement.

I believe I was the 1st forum member to post a picture of the “Idaho Made” stamping when I got my Startac Umnumzaan, and IIRC, I stated that it was a “nice touch”. It was well thought out, discreet and flowed with the design of the knife. IMO, the stamping on the Sebenza does none of these things.

CR says that he cannot please everyone all the time, but out the 197 people so far who have voted in this unscientific poll, only 30 are pleased (29 CRK employees and Teacher.):)

This is my theory: Chris Reeve lost a bet to Mick Strider….. and the rest is history.

I voted liking it and I'm not an employee... one of the few I guess;)

BS. Why pay extra for a P model than? Or fancy watches? Come on now

A good watch keeps good time is strong and reliable and Chris Reeve is already the Rolex of the knife world, and as far a P or H model because one part of my knife collecting is an investment and just because it does not have a P or an H or anything on it it does not mean I wont buy it I will buy any Chris Reeve Knife and carry it. How many people you know still use or carry a Vietnam Randall or Ciso SOG knife? I will and have. A knife is a tool meant to be used. heck my wife is a chef and uses a set of $2,500 William Henry Knives Damascus knives everyday along with her Chris Reeve Chef Knives.

I dare anyone get me a neon pink small Sebenza with what ever smiley face or worse on it and I will carry it everyday and show it off because in the end its still a good knife no matter what it does or does not say. H,P,MM,Idaho Made, or whatever and I carry my knives in a LE environment I depend on my tool.

Really I want a pink Sebenza with a purple smiley face anyone here at CRK hook me up? after a year you can have it back if you want, I just want to prove a point. I will take a photo everyday me with the knife and post it.

oh god if I had the money that would totally be worth it.

IMO, the "Idaho Made" stamp looks terrible. I will not buy a CRK with this stamp. I guess Mr. Reeves is only human. Like everyone else, he is capable of making a mistake.

No disrespect intended.

For those of you that like it.

Why?

Surely it doesn't mean as much to you as it does to the man himself...

I'm speculating here, just a vision that came to me...

I'm thinking CRK may launch a European-manufactured and imported line of knives, perhaps made in Italy (perhaps by Fantoni, who made the recent Chris Reeve/Harsey collaboration), and wants the "Idaho Made" stamp to readily differentiate his 100% USA-manufactured pieces.

Besides that, and to answer your question, I like the stamp and the pride of every man and woman in the CRK shop it signifies. Not saying anyone who doesn't like the stamp doesn't appreciate the pride, just sayin'.

The stamp's ok with me, though I might have a few older CRK's to wear out before I have to worry with picking up a new one anyway. :)

Professor.

There's a thinking man. When CR says that it is "important" and "there for a reason", that implies a deliberate intent to differentiate the IDAHO knives from.....?

Either that or tax abatements in exchange for an endorsement of the state. CRK is a business after all.

At the percentages show just imagine how hard it may be to sell one of these on the secondary market. But at the same time we may not have a choice.

Well, would the Sebenza be made anywhere else? Doubtful yes? So Idaho Made because... ?

Plus, the whole point isn't where the knife it's made, it's the knife. I don't care if he makes it in Tazmania, it's a good knife that I find a lot of beauty in. I don't care if the knife has an Idaho Made stamp, just make it less ugly and put it somewhere else. LIke the lock bar, which is sandblasted on damn near every Seb so the stamp wouldn't stand out like a sore thumb.

It's in a spot made to display and to show easily, so I would think that the reason for the display is probably more financially based.

that makes sense. I'd feel better with a small USA engraved under the CRK logo, or the outline of the USA/IDAHO engraved, about the same size as the CRK logo, but on the other side.
