Idiots without knives

Duh stabman! It's so much easier to find another job than to bring a hammer from home. It's about principles man. Maybe the rent doesn't get paid, but at least you didn't have to pack your own hammer.

Yeah, I know.:D
Especially when the city has 10% unemployment(and THAT only counts people who are still pulling in EI benefits), the jobs are just plentiful.

Read the post again. Never said finding another job was that simple.

I read it again. My mind can't comprehend a different message the second time. Maybe I'm just dense.

Hey coat hangers can do another thing my knives can't. They can hold up thousands of exhaust systems! :foot:

A little too close to home on that one. Every vehicle in my driveway has at least one coat hanger holding some part of the exhaust up. :D

Ok now I feel the need to EDC a coat hanger with my 2 knives, flashlight, handgun, and multitool I guess I could carry it by putting on my shirt without taking it off the hanger. Though it may hook the back of my head every now and then. Does any one make coat hanger Kydex?

Agree with this. It is up to the employer to provide you with the necessary work tools. What they don't provide means that it is unecessary for the job. Most jobs that require a box cutter will provide a box cutter to their employees. Only knife nuts will use every excuse in the book to use a Sebenza to open a box sealed with tape.

In what worker commune are the the employees provided with absolutely everything necessary for daily job duties?

Going on a knife forum and complaining about how we use knives is like going on a bowling forum and complaining about how throwing the ball so hard at the pins is to make up for problems with masculinity. What a dork fish as my 8 year old would say.

First off, using a coat hanger to keep the exhaust up... BRILLIANT!

Second, I'm starting to think it's a good thing that most people don't carry a knife. Most people don't have a clue that carrying a knife brings a bucket load of responsibility with it. You let them "look" at anything that they think is supposed to be a weapon and they immediately start slashing at people. Then there's the few people I know who do carry knives, most of them don't get it either. That you can be charged with attempted murder for pulling the knife out of your pocket at the wrong time (in Canada anyway), let alone pointing it at people, and occasionally pretending to stab them (even if they are your trusted friends, that is not appropriate behaviour under any circumstances).
Officially the Police see all knives as weapons, and given the way I usually see people use them, I'm starting to think their point of view is justified.

That guy opening a box with a coat hanger probably wouldn't have done anything different even if he'd had a knife in his pocket.

I was at the LL Bean store at the mall just looking at the over priced blister packs and I over heard two young guys taking about a third they knew. They made fun of the fact that he carried this knife on him all the time. The other said that he was a weirdo alright and they left the area. I went to see what knives they where looking at and it was the Spyderco brand.

Makes me think that the other guy is ok in my book and these two baggy britches needed the help.

I was doing some Christmas shopping yesterday when I observed one of the store workers using a coat hanger to open (or trying to) a taped box of shirts. He spent a good couple of minutes on something that would've taken five seconds with a sharp knife. It was hilarious watching him struggle with the apparently herculean task of box opening. I guess I could've offered him the use of my sodbuster, but I needed a good laugh after a couple of hours in the mall.
You could have offered to sharpen his coat hanger :D.

One plus to the box cutter is the lack of needed maintenance. No need for the high school minimum wagers to pull out the waterstones and stops, Sharpmaker, or Edge Pro.

You carry a knife? Creepy!;)

Yeah, sometimes it's very funny. The other day somebody called me a freak because I carry a knife. (I had an Opinel and a Leatherman Wave on me) Then I told him I have more than 150 knives. Now he kind of avoids me...

Kind regards,

Jos

thats funny

Knives make you creepy and scary...until someone needs a zip tie cut. Then the story changes.

I walked into a fastfood restaurant and the girl behind the counter was trying to trim the flap off a box with a plastic butter knife. She was sawing and sawing. Very funny.

No, you can't.
If you're panhandling with a visible knife, they can get you for some type of robbery or something, but that's it.
I've used my knife on the city bus to cut stray stands off my jeans, or cut off dead-ends in my hair. I've used it at school to shave the spots I missed when rushing out the door.
No charges, and no one getting all scared.
Of course, I don't go around pretending to stab people(who the hell does THAT anyway?)

Bringing my knives to work has prompted interest from the owner of our business to purchase an Auto of some type. He also needs a skinner. I'm glad to make a contribution to peoples' cutting needs.
