Idiots without knives

My Father refuses to carry a knife. I bought him one for his Birthday, Thats the last time I ever saw it. But it sure is funny to watch him try to open a bag of dog food with a pair of scissors.

I SHOULD have mentioned that I was shaving my face.:o:D

Ha, yup, I figured that's what you were talking about. Still, an interesting visual. I picture some dude storming out his front door in a three piece suit with a knife to his face, scraping furiously as he tries to pry open his car door to make it to work on time.

In what worker commune are the the employees provided with absolutely everything necessary for daily job duties?

:D  Seriously, when does this happen? I really do wish that from time to time people would come down from their ivory towers. I have been reading stupid half baked assertions on these forums all afternoon and in some way shape or form the troll that posted at the top of this thread was involved. I have to give him credit. I have never seen one person drag more idiots out of the woodwork. For example http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=605373

No, you can't.
If you're panhandling with a visible knife, they can get you for some type of robbery or something, but that's it.
I've used my knife on the city bus to cut stray stands off my jeans, or cut off dead-ends in my hair. I've used it at school to shave the spots I missed when rushing out the door.
No charges, and no one getting all scared.
Of course, I don't go around pretending to stab people(who the hell does THAT anyway?)

Normal every day use, ok, but in that case no one has reason to say too much. If you should happen to be in a heated argument with someone, the courts aren't very sympathetic toward the guy with the knife.

When I worked at Target, we were issued those cheapie folded steel box cutters as needed. I must have had half a dozen of them even though i rarely needed one.

When I worked in retail, many years ago, nearly everyone was issued one of those box cutters. They were so handy for opening packages, I still have a few of them around in drawers at home and at work. I carried an alox SAK back then also. Still do sometimes.

some punk kid slashed the throat of a guy I know(he survived, thank God), he used a box cutter, probably doesn't even know the name of one knife company.

criminals are less likely to have nice knives like we do, they have to ditch them all the time

I see Rat's "nonsense" and raise him a "pish posh!"
I'll see your "pish posh" and raise you a "ludicrous."

A carry a 3" or under pocket knife full-time. I use it regularly for opening boxes, cutting tape, opening envelopes, etc.

However, using a bit of common sense is necessary. Speaking of which: I failed at that recently :(. Was at a club Christmas party, where the club provides Christmas presents for children. Dad was trying to open the box for his little girl (3 or 4 years old, at most) and, w/o thinking, I got out my Mini-Grip to cut the tape for him. Think about it: Dad, excited little girl anxious to get to the stuff in the box, stranger with a sharp knife... Not Good. I made sure her tender little bits were well clear before coming close with the knife, but still... dad would've been well in the right to have expressed alarm.

I remember my Mothers 80th b day. I pulled out a small bm minigriptilian to help her open her presents and my sister ( the crazy liberal) started screaming Oh my God! he's got a knife! Like she was going to call the swat team for me trying to help Mom open her pkgs. I hate that crap! And you would think she would have noticed by now that I've always had a knife. Since I got my first one when I was six.
