JD,

If it helps, I own this site and I can't spell worth a **** either. Grew up in the projects and trailer parks around Tallahassee. I did ok in school but was mostly self taught. Started at the flea market there and here in Jacksonville. Maybe it is the Florida sun that makes us spell so bad

Welcome to the forum.

Where in south Florida are you from?
If you sell at flea markets I am sure you have heard of the Swap Shop in Ft. Lauderdale on Sunrise. I have sold there too. I would stay down there while doing gun shows and sell at the flea market during the week.

You gotta love those Canadians!

Sorry about the spelling comments J.D. That's what I get for assuming eh? I noticed that down to earth attitude too, that's a good thing.

Gee, my comment about the spelling was a question in earnest. Hackers have a lingo called leetspeak, in which they mispell intentionally. For example, "wares" is spelled, "warez", even the the word "leetspeak" is short for elitespeak. Sorry my question got interpreted badly. Any hacker types want to back me up here?

Most of us should hang our head in shame. Yes I said us because I have done it also. This topic started out with J.D. getting beaten up and laughed at for posting his wares for sale in what was perceived by some to be the wrong area. We have all done it. Yes I admit I have and I have only been on the forum a couple of weeks. Is posting our URL to our web site where we sell our custom, antique, collectable, or other knives not selling? Is putting that URL on each of our posts not selling? Is putting our business name on our posts not selling? Is displaying our knives whether made by us or someone else and asking for comments not a thinly veiled attempt at selling? Most of us have done it and/or are doing it now. Isn't it curious that with as many custom makers as there are on this site that the custom makers for sale forum has the least amount of posts in the Knife Exchange Area. Mike you own the site so you can do as you please, however, the rest of us do not have any such excuses. J.D. do not feel embarassed or ashamed for posting in the wrong area. YOU STAND IN GOOD COMPANY. WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

As I mentioned in the new thread you started, Stab1, it's perfectly okay to put your url in your sig. You are absolved! You are forgiven! You are aquitted of any wrongdoing! You can hold your head up high again! And you can save a copy of that post -- in case you ever do commit a sin of any kind, you have your apology all written and won't have to write it again. With just a little editing that ought to serve for just about any crime....

Cougar, If all you got from my posting was that I was seeking absolution for my past sins you obviously didn't get it. I also consider your mocking and ridiculing of my postings to be an inappropriate response from a moderator of this forum.

Don,
We have already applauded j.d. for having the courage to ask questions and expressed our support for his endeavors. The difference between a dealer or quasi-dealer posting items for sale in the personal section and an individual having their business url in their signature line is that posting in the private sale forums puts their business right in your face - push technology (they push it at you). A url required you to click on that link and actively pursue what they have to offer - pull technology (you pull their info to you). Because we are looking for good knife buying-selling-trading, we are obligated to click the post and it become deceitful for a dealer to pose as a private seller. If someone, for example, is selling a custom knife, and under their sig block is the url www.isellcheapcrapknives.com, it is that individuals choive to go look at some cheap crap knives.

You are correct, you have not been here long. We see the same cycle over and over. Perhaps you should spend more time observing before sounding off.

No stab1, most of us have not done it. Some just blatantly abuse the privilege. Either through lack of knowledge or experience on the forums. Cougar was just replying with a little needed light humor. If people wish to participate in the forums to seek information or add information to members of the forum, that's great. Make, sell or trade knives occasionally, that's great also.
Sell NIB knives for an income, advertise in the dealers section and compete with the professionals. No matter what the rules are, there are always people who feel that they are above them.

I have bought many knives from members of this forum, but I have also met many fine individuals and gained invaluable knife knowledge. That is the "spirit of the forums".

J.D knows that he is welcome and hopefully will continue to participate.

JD, I don't know if you're Good, Bad or Ugly. What I do know is that I like your style and you're Welcome.

And just one more thing, about this place,
I've learned- that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

Cougar, My apologies for the previous terse response to your posting. A forum friend has informed me that it is your style and off the wall sense of humor. I appreciate the forum allowing me to express my opinion and I respect all of the opinions I have received in response to mine, whether they were in agreement or not. There is no heartburn on this end toward anyone and I sincerely hope there is none on the other end.

Just my two cents...I have bought and traded with J.D. and I will absolutely do it again! I have found him to be a very honest person that was concerned about the fairness of our transaction! When our deal was getting "sluggish" he e-mailed me saying "let's keep working at it until we come to an agreement!" "I want you to have these and I want to sell them to you!"

Thanks J.D. I'm glad I met you, and you are #1 in my book! Additionally, the knives I received were better than I had expected!
