If ESEE or RAT did not exist What would you use?

True, TOPS... some of their stuff is obviously overpriced but they have some reasonable survival knife designs like the Cochise Ranger and Black Rhino. If you can get a lower-than-retail price on them they'd make solid alternatives.

I don't actually care. I was just fishing for a rise. ;)

Personally, I'd call Shon and find out what else he was involved in making and buy from them if there was no ESEE.

Some call that Trolling ......if your here to stir the pot....:thumbdn:

alright, I'm sorry... I don't think Jeff mentioned Fallkniven or Bark River in his book, I didn't mean to offend ;)

Jeff has written a book?
I thought I had everything by RAT, shirts, shoes, knives, panties, firestarters, arrowheads, waterbottles, hoodies, Zippos, stickers, toilet paper, photos of Jeff and all members associated with RAT.
I even changed my girlfriends name to Jeff so the RATPACK wouldn’t be upset with me. Although every time I look at her I still feel disgusted and a little disappointed she doesn’t look like Jeff; maybe she will be game for plastic surgery…we have been working on the Alabama twang.

Jean, you can't forget the ESEE body bag duffel so after your buddy crosses the 5 step snake attached to the 14 year old transie in Bangkokk you can bring them back to Western society conveniently and indiscretely. Or you could spring for the 40 dollar verson, Vans just came out with the 12,000 cubic inch Joel Tudor GI Duffel made of OD duck canvas with a shoulder strap and stashable pack straps...

I switch between blades quite often - these are how I would break it down based on knives that I own:

Izula --> Busse Game Warden (I actually sold the Busse because I HIGHLY preferred the Izula!)

RC3mil --> Fehrman Peace Maker or Busse Sus Scroffa

RC4 --> Swamp Rat RatManDu or Scrapyard ScrapMuk

RC6 --> Busse Tankbuster, Skinny ASH1, NMSFNO

Dont own a Junglas, but I know that my Busse Bushwacker Mistress is an excellent substitute.

This is easy....my fingernails...j/k

Seriously though, I'd go with NWA, Becker or Busse family.

If I didn't carry the Izula I'd just stick to the Emerson folders for EDC. For larger blades I like the Fiddleback Forge Woodsman, and several Busses. I convexed a CT1 Ontario machete that is excellent.

I hate to say it. The only ESEE products I own so far are the AH-1s. Please dont shoot me. Knife funds kind of low right now. I had a couple of non-ESEE knives on preorder so money was already committed. I could of backed out of the deals but that wouldnt of been right. Right now trying to justify an ESEE. I dont have anything in the Machete range but dont have a clue what I would do with a Machete in central Illinois. But I do like BRKT,Falkniven an hope to have an ESEE soon.:D

I have a lot of love for Koyote's knives...love some of my old Swamp Rat's too...

Gotta like some of the condor's too...

There is an ESEE Knife Company so IMO this thread is a fat slap in the face to Jeff, Mike and Shon. Being a user and collector of many different knives, I would say that this topic would fit better into the General Knife Discussion board than on the manufacturer's own forum.
I'm disgusted and disappointed to see this posted in here.

dude i just wanted to know what true ESEE fan prefer instead. Good for comparing. I love and use ESEE knives and plan on getting more. this was just for fun. This is an ESEE spacific question for this forum. sorry if i offended. I am a loyal customer and user of ESEE knives. :grumpy:

recon1 relax...everyone here owns esee knives and want to know what everybody would use if the DIDNT exist, not isntead of. Sheesh! Besides you named yourself after a cold steel knife, how hypocritical is that.

I probaly would be still using SOG's. I still have a couple left. They are good knives.
