If the lock mechanism on my pocket knife breaks or fails while using the knife will my fingers be cut off?

I will say, most of my serious cuts have been fixed blades.

I've had stitches 4 or 5 times at least. Only one was a folder (slipjoint equal end...I was closing the blade without looking.....pushed o the wrong side)...not paying attention.

I've had stitches from fixed blades about three times.

Once I got stitches from a large rusty cowbell across the bridge of my nose. That one also gave me a concussion....and a lot of laughs from the Dr's and nurses.

In answer to the original question, to lose a finger I would think you would really have to work at it. At least I would. When I cut with a knife it causes pressure away from my fingers not towards them. Incidentally this is also why I have always thought spine wack testing was a useless activity.

Now whether you might cut your head off if your lock fails is an entirely different question...

Probably been mentioned here before, but flippers provide some layer of protection against this. Should the liner lock fail or slip, the protruding flipper tab stops the blade from closing on your fingers.

Causes California in the state of cancer?
California Prop 65. It requires a warning on items that are known to cause cancer and birth defects. It's...one of those things. It means we'll...but it's hilariously heavy handed in application. Because...everything causes cancer. From the cord on my TV to my shoes to cooked food. Yes, cooked food.

California makes everyone put this warning on everything. It adds cost to literally every product. Which everyone in all fifty states pays for.

When it first started showing up on benign everyday products it was confusing to consumers who would inquire. “Does this widget cause cancer?” The standard answer was “Only in California”

The running joke is “I’m staying away from California because everything causes cancer there.”

Not that cancer is funny. It’s California thats funny.

I hate when i have to explain a joke.

Which hand was holding the saw?

My tool nicks are mostly on my left hand, cause it’s my right hand doing the damage. Material cuts tend to be on my right hand, from not wearing gloves enough.

Sheet metal and electrical wiring carve me up the most.

I'm right handed, was holding a stub I was flush cutting in the bucket and nicked my left. My left hand definitely takes the brunt of the tool related injuries.
