… what knife would you give to every knife bro and sis? Basically just one knife model which pretty much the entire knife nut community would appreciate. This knife will magically appear in the collection of every knife aficionado 18 and up. Whether folder or fixed, mass produced or custom, that’s up to you.

Probably an unpopular choice, but mine would be the Mora Eldris. Small enough to pocket, would probably be legal in most places (always double check your knife laws), and the handle is fairly comfy despite the compact profile. I think most of us here would have a use for a dependable small fixed blade.

What are your thoughts? Let’s keep this fun and polite!

Why not give everyone a choice among a fixed blade (one brand/size only), slip joint (one brand only), or a flipper, thumb stud (again only one brand/configuration). No spare parts, no warranties, nada. Each person can trade multiple times if they wish.

I would give each of my subjects their choice of SAK.
I was going to give out customs, but well, I don't want to spend all of their tax money.
OTOH, I guess I could appoint someone like Andre Thorburn the official armorer...
Even intergalactic taxes would be quickly burned by Shiros and Rocksteads. A choice of SAK sounds wise. Heck, I wouldn’t say no to a brand new Victorinox, hehe.

That sounds great too!

Fun and polite are mutually exclusive in this end-of-time scenario.

The cork screw is just in case his majesty ignores the clamor for twist-top bottles.

Since there are no factory parts/warranty service, clever smiths can make repairs/upgrades but the cost is one of your three knives.

A Jubilee every 10 years; old knives can be discarded and replaced with same model/type of knife. One group splits off calling themselves "Shina" and begins making poorly designed knockoffs which are subsequently traded for poorly made knockoffs of crystal meth called "snooze button". Most people have forgotten which edge to sharpen. Suicides plummet because so few knives can cut rope.

I had to giggle a bit when I first saw this thread. Every time I pull my BK-2 out, at one of the Ranch houses or some random river cabin, I always tell my Buddies, "The Government really needs to issue one of these to every household."...

Meyerco Strut n cut.

I believe it started the whole assisted opening movement - which in turn has made huge inroads into getting stupid laws against auto knives overturned in many states (Ohio where I live being one of them).
