If you could have only ONE Busse which would it be?

There you go again Jaxx out thinking all of us! :)

LOL, How else can one respond to such a question? I sat here thinking about it, and I'm prolly darn close to the other extreme end of the spectrum with my philosophy being, "How CAN you own just one?" :D

Really, many questions would have to be answered first, before responding to the OP's question...

User or safe queen?
Chopper or slicer? Multi-purpose??
Urban EDC or woods carry... Or camp knife. boat knife, trail knife, etc.
Defensive or utilitarian use? Both??
Only one BUSSE, or only one knife? ;)
What climate to base the decision on? Forest, jungle, desert, plains, tundra, etc.?

...And on & on. :) Then, maybe I might be able to whittle the list down to... 4 or 5! :D:D

There is a real possibility that in the near future that I may become seriously wealthy (due to a horrible tragedy in my family) and if this is so, I am going to invest a good deal of my $$$ in INFI. I mean, why not? If you buy gold it just sits there, but INFI...INFI you can do almost anything with.

Thanks everyone for putting in your answer! Its very cool to see what everyone chose. Hopefully one day I will be able to answer this question myself through vast experience.....;);)

I think to answer this you need to work with a lot of issues....similar to Jaxx's thoughts on need and suitability for use.....

Mors Kochanski said his one grab tool would be an Axe... and he knows a lot about survival ... Ray Mears has said in the Jungle it would be a machete over your pack if the canoe capsized ... and he also knows a lot .... Lofty Wiseman has also said in his book that you should choose a Parang as a one knife tool ...

The guys who know A LOT MORE than me all seem to aknowledge that a large versatile knife is the best "ONE TOOL" .... so for me it would be my NMFBM which is thinned down and convexed .... and is actually the Busse I use the most ...

You can build a cabin with this knife....and still paunch a rabbit with it as well ...

Since you already have an FFBM, and until your bank account fills out, why not pick up a mid-size Busse in the 6 1/2" blade range?

EXAMPLES:

Left-to-right above are a SJTAC (Mole Jack version), another SJTAC modded by Ban Tang (uber custom aftermarket Busse grinder), a Skinny ASH1, an ASH1 LE, and a couple of Resiprene-C (durable rubber-like compound) handled models.

I don't put much stock in what guys like them say. ;)

You have the right idea going on there, that and a nice strong folder and you will have all you will ever need knife wise to survive. :)

If your not in triple canopy jungle then a machete wouldn't be really needed.

For me, if I could keep only one, it would be my Birds Beak Straight Handle Steel Heart 2. My grail is the original SH1 but that is a pipe dream. In the mean time, my BBSHSH2 is my favorite

While, not necessarily my favorite (although it was at one time)...the NMSFNO is hard to beat for best "all rounder". In my humble opinion.

My only one would be this one:

I love this knife. Perfect all arounder.

you know, when I think of the "pioneers, o pioneers" poem, that is the knife that enters my mind. Holding it, it's not pretty, but it's the best mid-sized do-everything of the busse line that I've held. If I truly could only have 1 single knife (not including axe and leatherman charge) I'd probably go with that one as well.
