If you could only carry one blade,

More info would be helpful. Do you mean only one single blade folder for EDC, or one single blade, fixed or folder, for everything from EDC to hunting, fishing, camping, etc.?

A fixed or a folder?

I would choose a style similar or identical to my MarkeSharp EDC but in something like cpm 154 for corrosion resistance.

For a folder...I would carry a 2 bladed Barlow with a Clip main and spear or a Spear main and coping secondary as well in cpm 154

Broad subject matter here idahoguy~

If I could only carry one knife , I'm not sure which it would be. Probably something along the lines of a Buck 110. But then again, a clip point is not ideal for every task (no blade shape/type is) so maybe something like a scout/camp/utility or SAK Tinker/Super Tinker or Farmer. However, a SAK is not really ideal for heavy cutting tasks, so maybe a Sunfish would be better ... or a Barlow or canoe ... or a Stockman for a variety of blades ...
I think I'll just keep EDC'ing my Buck 110, 301, 389, Marbles utility/camp/scout knives and CRKT Guppie and Leatherman Wingman multi-tools.
If limited to a single blade, a Buck 110 or Schrade equivelent.

All with what ever steel the factory sees fit to use. I don't baton my knives, nor am I in the habit of stabbing cars, so I don't need a "super steel".

I had in mind an EDC folder single blade pocket knife. Hunting and wood whacking are another story. Just one single bladed EDC folder. I'm kinda picking everybody's brain here.

Buck 110, Case 031s (sheepsfoot blade) Rough Rider/Colt/Marbles "half hawk", Rough Rider "Deer Slayer" or large "coke bottle", not sure of a single blade wharncliff folding knife. There is a small 2 inch or so blade folding wharncliff with a key ring I've seen at truck stops, can't remember the brand, and they don't have it at this truck stop. For $16 to $19 it don't look too bad. I know someone makes a single blade with a spear point, but I cannot name them. Maybe GEC?

Thanks, idahoguy. I've always been a huge fan of multi-blade slipjoints, with at least one bellied blade and one straight-edged blade. So for me, the best balance in a single blade is a shape that combines the two: namely, the Zulu spear. A spear blade with a very low tip and very large radius to the belly. It's not as good as a clip and a sheepfoot, but you do get some attributes of both in a single blade. I would want a 3¾" closed serpentine frame (think peanut on steroids) with a Zulu spear blade of CPM-154 @ 60-61 HRc. Covers of bark ram's horn would be nice.

Probably my Buck 501 custom indigo royalwood, since it's somewhat sentimental, and also a great all-around knife. Next up would probably be my Case swayback jack pacific ocean blue.

One I forgot to mention is a marinars knife. Several different brands. They all have a sheepsfoot primary and a marlin spike secondary. Some have a deck pipe key, as well.
The Rough Rider version is quite nice. You would be surprised at how often that marlin spike/fid comes in handy.

Well since this is the traditionals sub-forum, I'll go with the traditional that I would carry is I could only carry one. And that would be a Case Sodbuster in CV. That knife serves me well.

Single blade?

I'd probably choose a Smith & Sons mudbug.

I reserve the right to change my mind though.
