If you could only have 1 folding knife...

Darrel Ralph

Thank you sir, I was wondering what's the exact model? Is it still available for sale? I've noticed a wide range of pricing .... what's the cost of this one? It's been a long time since I've seen a knife that I've liked so much. Thanks for your time sir

That's a custom AXD... not currently being made.

I thought this post was very interesting and worth responding to.

I see your point, but I would take my MK4 Dauntless over more expensive knives like Shiros, etc. It comes down to design, and that is price neutral. The MK4 Dauntless (in the CF/hollow ground special edition) is the best designed knife I've ever owned, no question, and I've had customs from some of the best makers working right now as well as some who are long gone. As a collectible or heirloom piece, that's one thing. And as a pure tool for a certain setting, that is another thing. But I really approached this thread as kind of what is the Platonic ideal of a knife for me. And even my favorite Shiro doesn't hold a candle to the Dauntless MK4 in that respect, at least for me.

Well I never owned a MK4 Dauntless but the finger choil is what kept me from getting one. I just don't like wasted real estate of a blade. Something the Shiros don' have.

Not saying the MK4 Dauntless is any worse or better. Just a finger choil eliminates the knife for me since I had so many knives with choils (seems to be a popular thing on most knives) I just don't see them as practical after having so many knives with them.

Well I just decided to sell 2 of my 3 remaining modern folders and the last man standing is the Waved Endura.

CRK large 21 micarta

I did a quick tally, and Spyderco is the winner at this point with 26. CRK is next with 24, ZT and Benchmade each have about 8, and the other brands have 2 or 3 at most.

Where people had indicated more than 1 choice, I picked the first one mentioned.

The Sebenza models had the most mentions for CRK, with the Military and PM2 on top for Spyderco.
