If you could only have one watch

I used to be a "watch guy", until I got my G-Shock Riseman. Its not upscale or blingy, but I love its "atomic" feature that resets the time precisely on a daily basis. I like knowing exactly what time it is. The barometer gets used almost daily (I get dizzy when pressure differential is pronounced), and its solar function means no winding and no battery replacement. And its tough. Link.

Believe it or not Casio makes good stuff now. I'm testing out the PGA240 right now but I'd trade it for an Aviation series.

I've got this one with the orange markings, and love it. Powernoodle, I'm with you on Casio's, especially the ones with the more complex modules. I looked hard at the Riseman, the Mudman, and even the Frogman before going with the GW300B. I've worn an Omega mid-sized Seamaster for 10 years now, but wanted to give it a break on weekends.

I have four watches, none of them particularly expensive or remarkable. The one I would keep if I could have only one is my Citizen Eco Drive Calibre 8700. It is dressy enough for formal occasions, rugged enough for general use, and has some useful features. More importantly, it was a gift and has some sentimental value.

My second favorite is a Parnis hand-wind "flieger" with a lefty crown. It has proven itself to be quite reliable and accurate (loses maybe two minutes a week). For a $50 buck Chinese watch, it is a great way to experience mechanical watches without much of an investment.

I have a few watches, none of them anything fancy (Invictas/Fossils/G-Shocks), but the one I would jump on if I had the dough would be a Rolex Submariner.

I have many upscale watches and many beaters but if I can only keep one it would be the Casio Mudman GW9000A-1V. Its solar, its atomic, its rubber coated titanium and it will probably outlast me.

Here's a pic of my Casio GW3000B that I wear when not wearing my Omega Seamaster. I think it might just withstand the apocalypse, along with the two knives underneath it, and would be the watch I'd grab in such an event.

Prof, those are pretty cool, I've never been a busy faced watch person but that one is tempting even the likes of me!

G2,

I'm impressed with its features and functions. Its got a feature where the hands on every complication will auto-adjust to the correct alignment, which has been the bane of chronographs I've owned in the past. Casio has come a long way. I wore them as a kid in the early 80's. It's kinda nostalgic putting Omegas and CRK's aside for a rest and edc'ing Casio's and Benchmades again. Both have many cool offerings these days.

It would have to be a G-SHOK. They have held up where upscale brands have failed.

I like the Gold Rolex Submariner. It satisfies all my watch requirements.

I hate to be redundant and post a watch that's been featured numerous times, in these types of threads, but in all honesty, if I could only own one watch it'd be my Casio 5600 G-Shock. It does everything I need it to do and then some.

Tough to choose just one watch. Today I'm wearing this one:

(wow, sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead)

Having just one watch is like having just one knife.

Gshock classic over my Rolexes, Omegas and Hamilton's. My gshock has been with me three times to Mexico, 7 times to Puerto Rico, Through volcanos and jungles of Costa Rica, Pakistan, China, Amsterdam, England, Belgium, Sonoran Desert, Taos, some crazy rave in the middle of farm in Bobcaygeon Canada, strip clubs, board rooms, dirty nightclubs behind the White House, dirty nightclubfs in NYC and then some. Since first getting my Gshock Classic back in 1998 its been faithfully with me ever since. And on only one battery change to boot. In all this time its been faithfully bulletproof.

I literally only wear now when I travel, everything else has been replaced by a humble Seiko SKX007 that is worn daily. The jubillee band on the SKX is really comfortable. My wife gave it to me just recently and like it overall my other watches. However I feel like that Gshock classic will be with me forever as I have so much history with that thing.
