If you could only have one.....

Only one Spyderco for EDC? Air, hands down.

I really like the PM2, Millie, and Manix, but I have other 3.5"-4" folders from other manufacturers that are pretty good, too.

The Air does everything I need to day-to-day, is small enough not to freak people out, large enough to still get a good grip, and it's really well put together and made of great materials. I don't know of any other production knife that can match it in terms of design, price point, and overall quality. I want to say I like the Mnandi better, but the new opening depression makes them a chore to open one-handed and the blade steel doesn't hold a candle to CPM-M4 for edge retention... and the Mnandi still costs more than twice as much.

So yeah, the Air would be my only Spydie if I had to choose, just because I don't know of any other knife from any other company that could replace it and do as good of a job.

I would have to say, My Para2. It has Great blade steel. The locking mechanism is fast, and dependable. And being under 3.5 inches in blade length. It is legal in most places, except is those backward city's and goofy states . Places I never set foot in. And if my para2 can't get the job done, I wil just go and get my Sawzall or a chainsaw. Cheers

My Delica 4. I love all my Spydercos but when I carry them I carry them in addition to my Delica, not instead of. The only exception is my Salt 1 which I carry when fishing or on a boat.

EDC would be my Southard. For my needs, the Southard beats my PM2 in almost every way (except locking mech.), and is easier to carry than my Gayle Bradley.

Showpiece would be my Damascus Caly 3

Yeah, like the PM2 but to me I think it is a little overhyped, Southard is pretty solid for sure. Don't get me wrong PM2 is a fine knife but I don't get the frenzy over it compared to other Spyderco knives.

Spyderco Phoenix. Attractive blade, great locking mechanism. Not a large knife but not a tiny blade either. Its rarity and style is almost like a custom gentleman's tactical. What a beauty.

Caly 3.5 is my edc dream so that's my edc knife. Sorry I don't have any show pieces they either get used or sold and this Caly isn't going anywhere soon.

I've been eyeing one of these for the longest time, I love wharncliffes but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

To answer OP's question: For EDC, the Sage 1. This is the perfect EDC for me, hands down. It's never going to turn any heads, but there is literally nothing I'd change on the Sage 1 as far as my personal EDC goes. For showpiece? My M390 Para 2. To me, it personifies a few great qualities of Spyderco: new, top of the line steel; an overall great, thoughtful design; and a limited edition for collectors.

That might one the more daring looking designs that Spyderco has had, good call.

Show piece, Dodo. It's just too funky.

Southard for both (LSCF for show) if I could. Due to 3" blade length limit: Caly 3.

I'm going with the Delica 4 for EDC. Just seems like a solid knife that you can beat the holy hell out of and it will still cut and if you lose it you're not out much. I tend to be hard on my EDC knives, they're not jewelry for me so carrying something more expensive makes me nervous. Also tend to lose knives from time to time because I'm like squirrel burying nuts.
