If you had 3

- Fiskars hatchet as a tool and as a firestarter (carbon steel), though I haven't tried using it as a firestarter in combination with a stone yet... :o
- metal pot (2-3L)
- good sleeping bag

If a firestarter (ferro rod) is inclusive, I'd choose a Vic Farmer instead of the hatchet.

Since we all agreed that we were all dressed then I can also assume that I have my pocket knife on me; not dressed without it. So basically I think stuff that would otherwise be in my backpack that I am now without for some reason.

1. Water bottle
2. Ceramic-type Water Filter
3. Para Cord

man, this one gets me. give me 4 and I'm a lot happier.

knife- probably a lueku, or one of the leuku pattern bushcrafters. I'm still a bit up in the air about the 4.5 versus 8 inch blade aspect if i only have ONE knife.

poncho- I am cheating a bit and assuming it is november or december. Odds are that in october here it'd still be pretty dry, and i wouldn't have to mess with REALLY soggy shelter materials anyhow.

metal container, with lid. probably the kleen kanteen. Boy I wish nalgene made a SS bottle with the wide mouth like their regular bottles.

lighter. I can do a bow drill, I can't quite make a hand drill work. And this is a decent environment for raw materials. But I'm just a bit more secure for those 7 days with a lighter.

MAKE me drop one and it's a toss up between the poncho and the lighter.

1. Fully furnished double-wide trailer
2. Marg Helgenberger
3. Large ice chest stocked with my favorite microbrews

I'm in the Sam Houston National Forest of Southeast Texas. Plenty of palmetto and vines for shelter construction. Temps won't be too cool, so improvised bedding of evergreen boughs will do. I'm certain that between frogs, armadillos and some other foraging I'll have grub. I'm thinking that a pot for boiling water, my RC-4 for all those cutting chores, and a fire steel would be enough. Maybe I need to get handy with the bowdrill fire starting so I could take my little emergency tarp or a pancho instead of the fire steel.

If you get that new sharpshooter leather sheath for the RC4 you can count that firesteel as 1 with the knife as that sheath has a loop!;)

Easy...

Koster Bushcraft 3V
27oz Klean Kanteen
Army Firesteel

On a side note, a hate to be a stickler, but I have a little rant.
Since when does this count as one:
-knife with firesteel on the sheath (should be 2!)

Sorry, that has been driving me nuts. No offense to anyone, I just needed to vent!

That's the way I felt too, until I reread the opening post, so, to answer your question, - since the person who started the thread said so. :D

Well since my sheath has a firesteel attached and I won't take the knife without the sheath; it counts as 1. More importantly I made the rules:p:D

But you can count them as 2 if you so choose. I want to keep all happy;)

1. BK&T C/U 7 or other large knife good enough for chopping and cutting.
2. Ferro rod
3. Stainless steel water bottle of some sort

Knife + ferro rod ( knife choice is hard, either Busse Mud Razor, Fehrman Shadow Scout or Bark River Bravo 1).

Stainless pot/billy with lid.

Ponch/hutchi

Ok if you guys have sheaths with firesteels then my Project I with hollow handle gets in as well! Only fair :D

So I make it:

CRK Project I (stuffed with matches)
Pot with lid
Ruger or CZ .22 bolt action with scope.

Seriously, what are you guys eating for 7 days?

Well, around me is stuff that I can eat without shooting it first.

Also, we didn't talk much about the circumstances of this "experiment". So hauling my ass out can be as easy as eating pancakes or as hard as a visit to IKEA (:barf:).

Seriously, what are you guys eating for 7 days?

I have plenty of wetlands by me, I have caught many frogs and turtles by hand, never eaten any, but I can. Also I learned some fish traps recently, and I can make deadfall traps for squirrels, rabbits , etc.

Plus plenty of wild edible plants to keep you going as well. I have been practicing and studying alot of plants lately.

But as Doc Arnie also said, you can survive without food for a week, it would suck, but you will survive.

Sure you could survive, but why suffer through it when you could be eating roast BBQ every night :D
