Well, I’m looking for a new edc. I have a new Gen 4 Hinderer that I never used and tend to carry a Gen 6 I bought when I want to use a Hinderer. I have a Strider, Emerson’s, some Spyderco’s, and such. I thought about trying CRK Inkoso or Umnumzaan as I’ve never owned or tried a CRK. But before I just buy something or put up a trade thread to see what I can get for the XM18 I wanted to know what’s new out there.

Would love to try EVO 3 or Shirogorov but both are probably out of my reach a bit, but all you guys always give me good ideas and give me some nice lists to research. Thanks in advance, I tend to like a bit overbuilt and larger sized knives, never been much into a small folder.

I have looked at Chavez and Les George in the past, both look nice just have never held one. As much as I like over built knives, Medford is a bit over the top even for me. I will do some research on Les George again though. Thank you

Does everyone on here prefer the CRK Sebenza over the CRK Inkosi and Umnumzaan? Is there a reason everyone seems to prefer the original 21 over the newer models?

Another vote for the Sebenza. I have Sebenzas, Inkosis, and a Zaan. Some people prefer the Inkosi are Zaan because they prefer adjustable pivots. The Sebenza doesn't work like that. Crank it down and get the same experience every time. I don't have to try to dial anything in. It came to me perfect and I just maintain it.

There are some people that prefer the old lock interface of the 21 with steel on carbidized titanium as opposed to the ceramic ball in the 31. There is a massive thread in the CRK forum here on it. Overall, there seems to have been a small vocal minority early on after the 31s release. Personally, my 31 ends up in my pocket more days than not. Still love my 21s also. I have a small 21 in my pocket every day as a secondary, and my main knife of the day is a large CRK, or some days a Koenig Arius or Grimsmo Norseman. Almost nothing else in my collection gets carried.

Inkosi,Umnumzaan they are all great but Sebenza would be my one knife to carry first choice.
Love the Regular as much as 21.

Im like you I like larger knives I have an Inkosi and a Sebenza also a 4 in Hinderer. I have had Strider and a bunch of others but I got a Medford M48 a few weeks ago and really like it I don’t see it getting kick out of my pocket by a folder for some time( a fixed blade will, I love me a small-med fixed blade in a good pocket sheath). I’m left handed added a pic cause.97B986BA-2A6E-42CE-8D82-E48E4CE0BD0C.jpeg

Since you like tank-y, USA-made knives, try a Demko AD20 or AD20S. :) If you're careful and lucky you can score one at street price in a drop, or get lucky with a small markup in the secondary market.

My AD20S keeps me from considering a whole swath of other knives in this category, without feeling totally redundant next to my Hinderers.

While I like them all, I find the Large Sebbie to be the one I carry most. The Inkosi is great, but not as neutral and universal in ergos, and doesn't have as deep of a hollow grind. The Zaan is a bit gimmicky in comparison with all it's features, but it all makes sense in hand and has arguably the best grind of them all. If you like overbuild knives all three fit the bill, but the Inkosi and Zaan are slightly beefier than the Sebenza. Regardless, the Seb is plenty tough and a better overall EDC IMO.

I'm a huge 21 fan, but the elegance of the ceramic interface is undeniable, and many prefer the new inlay pattern. A Large 31 inlay fills the hand a bit more than a PJ, and feels a little more robust despite being lighter because of the milling. The Black Micarta is one of the most popular for good reason.

Here's my .02. If you haven't gotten a CRK then get one! I just recently became obsessed with them after picking up a Sebenza. It's absolutely perfect. I now have a variety of handle materials and models. There really is something just special about them that you won't understand until you have one and use it. If you like beefier knives I'd say grab an inkosi or an umnumzaan although you can get a sebenza with an Inlay and it's going to be similar thickness. If you like double finger choils go with the Inkosi or the Spartan. I personally own and love them all. That being said if I could only have one it would probably be the Sebenza insingo micarta, or the Umnumzaan. I also have a Spartan Harsey that i adore but actually prefer the CRKs. Here's a photo for reference.
