If you had $4-500 to spend

What made you move them and what else did you replace them with in that price range out of curiosity?
The CRK thumbstud sucks big time. Not necessarily replacing them, I got into RHK and CRK at about the same time and after owning them both for a while I concluded that Hinderer folders are a better choice for me. They look better, more fun to play with, more options of aftermarket parts, and the skinny version slices really well.

I'm surprised at the lack of Skinny production. I have a 3.5 slicer no choil and a sheepsfoot and they are a better knife than the standard version in every way. An Eklipse Skinny spear point would be amazing IMO, as would a Skinny MP1.

I've spent between $400-550 on a few knives recently, including a:

Randall Model 2 Dagger
ZT 0600
Black Spyderco Lum Folder G10 PE
2 Shawn Vallotton custom autos
Hinderer Gen 6 XM-18 3.5 Recurve 20CV
Shirogorov Quantum Ursus NL

Badmatt, I actually have never felt the VECP but I should have a V3 inbound this week to try out as well. Hopefully both the Umnum and VECP should show up around the same time. Might have to do a quick review and write up on both on one of my days off.

What makes you think it wouldn't hold up? A Chinese made assisted Kershaw holds up just fine to constant flipping.

FWIW I usually flip mine open like all my knives.
It was my understanding that the detent couldn't hold up to hard flipping and CRK wouldn't warranty any that were obviously flipped. Has that changed?

From my understanding they mean wrist flicking, like the old school way when you were younger, blade pointed down and wrist flicking it out. No issues with finger flicking

I'll check their warranty, I got rid of an inkosi years ago due to the flicking warranty issue, if they cover it now I'd be back in. Any good knife should be able to be flicked open quickly without fear of it failing.

I 100% agree. Might be worth a quick phone to them and see what they say. Report back what you find out brother.

this reply may match the title but not the op content, sorry...but...if I had, really wanted to have Benchmade limited edition: artist series 15085-2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, either one.🤣
have no idea where to buy since they are products yearS ago

I just got off the phone with with a guy from CRK, very nice guy btw. Wrist flicking can damage the stop pin and that’s what they don’t want. He said Spydie flicking open their knives is just fine. This comes straight from the horses mouth.

That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It raises too many questions and probably not enough satisfactory answers.

I can only report back to what they said. I just went to their website, clicked contact, and called. Shoot them over a call brother, maybe you can ask better questions and report back with what you find out. Since I have an Umnumzaan coming I would like to hear what you find out and think after you speak to them.

I'm not a physicist, but I assume it has to do with opposing forces. Wrist flicking creates a force of blade pushing one way and handle another, creating a force multiplier over the thumb flick with a stationary handle. Speed of movement on the two methods may impact as well.

I would honestly consider 33 companions, 14 Bushcraft blacks. or 9 Mora Garbergs.

Hahaha, I already have a few companions, adventure sworn mountaineer, SET M1 and M3, and other bushcraft blades. I love them all, and as much as I wish I could say I’m always in the bush having fun, the reality is I edc a folder daily, so I don’t mind paying for quality when it’s something I will use all the time and enjoy daily.
