Well kidding aside my person favorite folder is the Spyderco Spydiechef in lc200n.Hahaha, I already have a few companions, adventure sworn mountaineer, SET M1 and M3, and other bushcraft blades. I love them all, and as much as I wish I could say I’m always in the bush having fun, the reality is I edc a folder daily, so I don’t mind paying for quality when it’s something I will use all the time and enjoy daily.
You're dog's looking at you like "Damn Anthony, I sure wish you'd spend a little bit more of that knife money on a few more treats now and then."Here's my .02. If you haven't gotten a CRK then get one! I just recently became obsessed with them after picking up a Sebenza. It's absolutely perfect. I now have a variety of handle materials and models. There really is something just special about them that you won't understand until you have one and use it. If you like beefier knives I'd say grab an inkosi or an umnumzaan although you can get a sebenza with an Inlay and it's going to be similar thickness. If you like double finger choils go with the Inkosi or the Spartan. I personally own and love them all. That being said if I could only have one it would probably be the Sebenza insingo micarta, or the Umnumzaan. I also have a Spartan Harsey that i adore but actually prefer the CRKs. Here's a photo for reference.
Sebenzas are flat out great knives. However I never saw the appeal of spending much on a saber ground edc knife. The vast majority or at least a huge part of an edc for me is being good with food. Anything but a full flat or hollow just sucks by comparison at this. Here's my .02. If you haven't gotten a CRK then get one! I just recently became obsessed with them after picking up a Sebenza. That knife is bad ass. I have never seen or heard of it before. Had to Google it. Very cool!So - I'm well aware there are lots and lots of issues with the maker and his methods, but if I had 500 bucks to drop on a folder, I'd do my best to find a Koster bushcraft folder. It's like nine different things I hate rolled into one knife, but for some reason I've always really wanted one. If I ever get the chance I'll grab one so I can make sure I don't like it.
I'm in the minority because I think Sebenzas are meh.
I just looked into that also. Looks really cool and I was actually almost ready to spring for it because it seemed like a rare opportunity to get one. However on his kickstarter it looks like people have been waiting for atleast 4 years for their knives and are not very happy. Does anyone know if most of these ever came to fruition? So - I'm well aware there are lots and lots of issues with the maker and his methods, but if I had 500 bucks to drop on a folder, I'd do my best to find a Koster bushcraft folder. Production plagued with problems for years, as far as I know. Don't give that dude any money at all because it'll disappear, is the word on the street. It was a huge ruckus several years ago, I know for certain that they're out there, but the only way I would buy one is secondhand, from someone on BF or similar reputable site.I just looked into that also. Yes I just got the same response. Too bad though, I just can't have a knife in that price range that can't take hard use. I have automatics that open harder than a wrist flip and the stop pins hold up no problem as do my other folders for wrist flips. It's a shame I'd love to have another CRK but it's not going to happen, it's mostly just a gentleman's light use knife and I ain't no gentleman.I just got off the phone with with a guy from CRK, very nice guy btw. Wrist flicking can damage the stop pin and that’s what they don’t want. He said Spydie flicking open their knives is just fine. This comes straight from the horses mouth.
Hahaha, I ain’t no gentleman either brother. Like you, having one will probably be enough for me.Yes I just got the same response. I have one coming actually. Worked a trade for a fixed blade I wasn’t using. The kind gentleman sent it first to make sure I liked it and even is sending pictures of some other options is case I don’t. Probably the nicest thing anyone has done in the 10 plus years I’ve been on here. Very very nice gesture. Can’t wait for it to arrive and see how it fits.Has anyone mentioned the Les George VECP? I do not have one but it seems to fit into the same genre as the Sebenza, Hinderer, PM Mac 2, etc crowd.
If I had to let all my knives but one go, the VECP would be in top contention. It's a terrific and horribly underrated knife.Have you considered a Medford?
One knife that has appealed to me for a while, and one I haven’t really had many opportunities to buy is the Les George VECP. If I wasn’t so hooked on Eklipses I would probly have one by now.
