If you had $650 USD to spend on a new knife…

There a lot on the used market for that money. Probably something exotic from William Henry as a safe queen. For a user maybe a Medford slim midi.

If it could only be one knife, I would purchase an O OlamicCutlery knife and call it a day. If nothing they make blows your hair back, then it would be something like a CRK Seb with the nicest scales I could find, or a Hinderer Project X. All three of these choices are knives you'd be leaving to your children, and they to theirs after a lifetime of faithful service.

I'd go custom, or heavily customize a production model.

I’m more of a fixed blade guy, but I do carry folders in addition to them. I also know that I’m not the kind of guy that could bring myself to use a knife that cost that much, too nice to use and all that. So, I guess I’m breaking your rules here but I wouldn’t spend that much on one knife. If I had $650 laying around I would buy both of the new Buck’s pictured above, the new 110/112 Slim Pro TRX’s. Then I would buy two LT Wright Next Gen’s, one with a saber grind 3V blade, the other with a flat grind in aeb-l. I’d take the remaining $100 (give or take) and stick it in my pocket.

Although I now own several knives that are (at least theoretically) worth $650 or more, I wouldn't spend $650 on a knife.

The most I've ever spent on a knife so far is $550 and that was an "exception" that I made to buy a ZT0600 which I felt was worth much more.

Otherwise, my current limit is $500, So, I can't play the "what if" game proposed in this thread.

I'd probably seek out a Case/Tony Bose collaboration stockman or similar stockman pattern by a custom maker.

Other than that I'd hold out for a Carothers folder, when they are eventually released.
Agree with a Case/Bose premium stockman…especially because this is a large stockman (4.25 inches closed) and, well, you are “El Gigantor”! IMHO this is one of the best of the Case/Bose collabs.
Seriously well made knife better than most customs …

I TRY real hard not to buy ANY knife over a Sawbuck.. See no point..
So that being said.. I would take the $650.00.. Buy a few under a Sawbuck knives and take the wife out for a nice evening.. Then with what is left over I would put it away for some vacation time.. JMO!!!

OP, don't listen to this guy, his ZT collection is worth a heck of a lot more combined, and probably has the guys at ZT drawing up plans to try to break into his house so they can take some of his collection for their company museum! 🤣

$25 for a Kershaw Lightyear in Neon, and $625 in the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index fund.

At my stage in life, I already own way too many knives. 🐈‍⬛
