By OP’s parameters I can’t choose a fixed blade, which eliminates all the knives I’m interested in and would actually carry.

So I’d probably have to pick an Ontario Rat folder in AUS-8. I’d like to have a dedicated beater folder and I currently don’t have one. The Rat seems like a great knife, and given how inexpensive it is I think it would be good for general beater use.

We don't have a great deal of choice in the UK with the crappy laws, although I'd not spend that amount on a folder as I'm not really a folder person past a certain point.

When they come back in stock here in the UK I'll order a Kizer Zipslip in 4v which is UK legal and can be had for about 90 dollars.
