If you had these knives, would you use them?

i couldnt stand not to use them. and that syk has an excellent warranty. How well the knife performs adds or subtracts value to me so i have to use all my new ones at least once

if you are collecting them so they appreciate in value, keep them in a draw

if you are worried about ruining/devaluing them, keep them in a draw

if you aren't planning to sell them and future value isn't important, use them. great cutlery siting in a draw is like having a great car sit in a garage.

p.s. i have only one knife unused in the box, a para2 carpenter sprint. the only reason it's in the box is because it's a backup for the one in my pocket. should anything ever happen to my user, the backup will be put in to full service.

Honestly , how much are they going to appreciate to justify holding onto them ? That is what I would ask myself. They are both production pieces and niether one will wind up in a museum in your lifetime.

Use them or trade them for something you like better , my two cents.

I think the hardest thing for me to swallow is knowing that there are so few of them made. Even though they are just production knives, if you were to want another one it's not like you can just go out there and buy another one on a whim. And when you do find another one, the price is inflated up the wazoo.

I hold the same belief as some of you guys that a good knife is meant to be used, but at the same time they are like an endangered species. I'll probably carry the s90v and not use it, and I'll definitely need to think hard about using the SY muk. It's nice to hear all of your inputs.

If you are going to carry the Para you might as well use it. If you carry it, it will then be used and the value will go down. You will also risk losing it so you might as well get some enjoyment out of using it. The steel is a performer so use it and experience why it is called a super steel.

I had one and carried it every day and it was an awesome knife. My wife then lost it in the gulf so I can no longer use it. If I had another one it would be in my pocket right now, without hesitation. I am disabled and can't afford another one so I have to go without. Maybe one day I will be able to afford another which I would try and buy one and I would then use it.

I use all my knives and sell them if I don't. Use them if you like them, if you think you don't, go buy the ones you do like and keep 'em.

I would use them.

I have a brand new Spyderco Bushcraft that hasn't a flaw on it but I know when it's few years old and has scratches, sharpening marks and dings on it I'm going to like it a lot better. Kind of like a broken-in pair of shoes. I was kind of concerned about scratching up my Fallknivens also , but now that I have it's no big deal.

I have to agree with the others. If you're going to carry it, you might as well put it to use. How bad would you feel if you lost the knife while carrying it without ever getting to use it? I had this problem at first with my 2010 Traditional Forum knife. It took me about a week to talk myself into using it. Just getting past the initial anxiety was the hardest part. Since then I haven't thought about it anymore.

I have a couple of production knives that had far fewer numbers made and a couple of custom folders that I didn't even think twice about dropping in my pocket right away. They are only knives which are replaceable. Maybe not with the exact same knife, but still replaceable with another one. The only knives that are truly irreplaceable to me are those that have sentimental value.

Good luck on your decision. Ultimately you're the only one who can make it.

I heeded some of your advice, and carried the para 2 CF today, and used it to open a plastic package...... feels good man.
