If you had to choose one Tactical Folder for Self Defense...

Along those lines would be a double edged and waved Spyderco Police. I would pack that along with a DDR 5.5" Maxx if I was heading for trouble.

This one is FFG as is and the top edge is a zero bevel grind.

Then please enlighten us as to which of yours would be best suited. Perhaps your SAK Tinker?

Andy

Ya missed my point bro. I have my fair share of folders and fixed that fall into the tactical category , at least those I have studied enough to find them suitable for SD .. Native , S-2 , Groove come to mind... heck my 110 would easily fit the bill.

My point was using a knife for SD , or anything else for that matter , can get one into hot do-do these days , even moreso if you knife was called "Obliterator" or "Assailant". :)

If you come home and BTK is raping and killing your family no jury in the world is going to care if your knife is named "Obliterator" or "Assailant".
Same goes for home invasions, gang initiation killings or child kidnappings.

Now,if your out late at a bar or in a mutual combat road rage thing or banging a married woman and her husband comes looking for your sorry ass that's a different story yet easily avoided.

Life can get you into hot do-do.
Alot of people die worrying about what do-do they're going to be in instead of fighting back ruthlessly and without hesitation.
It's called "death by fear of lawsuit" in shooting circles.
It's very real.

ok, this thread has gone so far off topic.

Rather than proffering up some useless words (useless because people will think what they're going to think regardless of how badly you want them to listen), I will simply answer the question with a picture.

As a fellow firearms enthusiast/angry American I couldnt agree more , was just stating a fact. :)

I don' think the exact model makes any difference as long as it could be deployed quickly and had a blade of at least 4 inches long! And as for the bull about don't use a blade for self defense that is totaly and utterly retarded if I was in a self defense situation I couldn't give a care if I gave pocket knives a bad name!!!! Now I'm not saying that I don't care about how knives are percieved but I believe my life is much more important and if you would rather risk it trying to find a chair you have some serious problems!!! However I do think the comment about pepper spray or batons being better is true, but these items are heavy and since I do not expect to get in a sd situation I will most likely not carry them! Most average pple will be carrying a knife only!

The annoying thing about human nature in lethal force confrontations is that when presented with a gun, the assailant understands they may not have any recourse other than to flee, but when presented with a knife, the assailant perceives it as an opportunity to obtain another weapon to use. Wrong or not, armed citizens think that just displaying a firearm can resolve the situation without actually having to kill someone. It happens a lot.

Lethal force discussions on firearms forums are conducted in the same spirited manner as this thread - with as many insistent and apparently unknowledgeable comments. One thing is for sure, tho, and that is the discussions center on the tactical application of differing weapons, say shotgun vs. carbine in home defense.

The use of a knife in that situation is never brought up. It's never even discussed here.

(thread title) What's the best tactical folder to use for Home Defense?
(answer) rotflmao buwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

The largest part of the population who actually uses knives as a weapon are women in a spousal conflict - it sure explains why they're the ones to holler "knife" in the workplace.

In jurisdictions that license concealed carry, knives are often NOT included as a permitted weapon. Maybe because in a lethal force situation, knives simply lack enough. You can't get "one shot stops" with a 4" blade.

The reliability of the metallic cartridge in firearms ended the dependence on a knife for self defense over a hundred years ago - but not the fantasy.

You can get one slash kills or stabs though VERY fast.
