That would be AWESOME!!! Cool braggin rights too, I mean come on, A user straight from the factory!?!?!?

Maybe we'd even be able to snatch up some models that have been long gone.....

Also, some of us like to tinker with modifications, handles etc... What better knife to try it on than one of these? GRINDUCCI's excluded!

Can I vote twice? I want to register on two levels: "Heck yeah, sign me up" and "I'm pretty sure Jerry has lost it." :D

I don't mind that finish. It is gonna get stripped and satined anyways ;) But without the CBT please

oh yeah.and to beable to send older knives to shop to have it done ,HELLRAZOR wow sign me up

Hey..............option #4 says: I'm pretty sure that Jerry has lost it!!!

That is a TOTALLY separate question !!!!!

:D

If thats, a cut down on a price then most indefinably yes. What gets me worried is that some coating is there for a reason, to protect the blade from the elements. Granted that coating gets used off quickly and leaves the knife looking as an old beater (I still go by the old ways when a knight in shining armor meant that he has never seen battle, and was an insult) However if what you are planing is a step up functionally then hell yes it is. As for looks I'm with everybody it looks better, and it gives ya that non-reflective finish that is thought after by some when they choose a coated blade. Another question is you mentioned the handles. I still want a comfortable handle, it is a part of functionality, a knife that feels uncomfortable might hurt your own performance with it.

I'd definably consider one.

Jerry, do you have an ASH1 sitting around there with this treatment we could see? I am thinking that would be sweet!

Did I scare you with that one boys???. . . . I know I sceeeaart myself !

So, what exactly is a Competition Grade Finish you may ask???. . . Purty darned ugly my friends. . . purty darned ugly!

When we run new designs for our destructive testing we don't worry too much about the finish. . . but boy can those puppies cut!!!. . . We put a zero convex bevel along the edge that screams!!!!. . .

We don't worry a bit about finish, since the name of the game is performance. . . We usually take a blade straight from the furnace and do a light pass on a wheel and then it's all about the edge. . . .

It is difficult to put this type of edge on a regularly finished knife since the edge finishing process usually rides up fairly high on the bevel. . . .Very cool!!!

We leave behind all of the peen marks, INFI dimples, and anything else that might be there. Sometimes we double cut them before edging. . .sometimes we don't. There is no set criteria as to how ugly these blades can get. . . .

Handles can be a bit rough as well. . . .fit and finish? . . . Uh, probably not gonna find it here kids.

These are beaters of the first degree. . . You'll never have to worry about marring up the finish. . . because we've already done that for you!

So, I guess the question is. . . If we priced these near the regular combat grade price point, would you be interested in buying one?

Here's a pic of the Jack Hammer with the Competition Grade Finish:

Jerry,

I if push came to shove I can live with those dimples if they were DC. But what in the world are those deep vertical grind marks? Those things are typically deeper than the dimples and a real pain to remove.
