If you only had $50 to buy a folder knife, what would you get (new or used)?

BUY USED!

more knife, less money. At that price you can get benchmade/spyderco/kershaw in many different styles lightly used that would cost 70-80 or more new. And most come with free shipping! You could get a couple of kershaws for $50 here on the forums, especially if you get a package deal.

As for my recommendation, Benchmade Mini Griptilian (1st choice), Spyderco Delica (spyderco option), Kershaw Blur/Knockout (assisted/flipper)

Since you didn't say if it would be ones only knife or not I would order a Skyline as I don't have a flipper right now.

I read this question like this (my interpretation):
Lets say you only had $50 to buy a folder knife, new or used, and you owned no other knives.... what would you get?
Benchmade large Griptilian.

Sidenote - A couple years ago, I bought 2 used but in very good condition, for the price of $37.50 each.

Buck Vantage Avid (large)

$40

Sandvik Steel is good at this price range. It is a nice smooth opening flipper. I also like the Dymondwood handles. Also nice and light and the pocket clip sits pretty deep if you want the knife out of sight. To me, the Vantage line is the best budget EDC line on the market, though I like the Vantage Force Pro better for the upgrade in steel.

On the money.

Used: Delica, or Endura.
Mini Grip, or Grip
New: Tenacious,
Or Buck Vantage Select, Large and Small (about $23 each)

I just had 50$ bucks to spend, and I bought a Kershaw Skyline (brown edition) from Kershaw Guy. Was it worth it? Umm...yes...yes...and...umm...yes...

I would get a couple different sizes Opinel knives. (either carbon steel, or the stainless if that is your preference).

Light, thin, get laser sharp, and I mean laser sharp.

Locking, but still traditional, and non threatening. Very handy, and tough.

Spyderco Resilience. A little less than $50.00, but worth it, and more. One of my oldest knives, but still one of my favorites.

Another vote for the Spyderco Resilience. Just got it in today, and it was totally worth the $45 I paid. The factory edge was wicked sharp. Fit/finish was perfect. Locks up tight with no blade play at all. Blade is perfectly centered. Perfect handle ergo. 4.25" full glat grind cutting edge.

Negatives: Made in China with 8Cr13MoV steel, and screws stripped when I tried to re-position the pocket clip.
