If you were buying a Bowie knife?

My favorite bowie style either custom or production, as far as design is the CS Natchez. That design with better materials and perfect fit and finish would be my dream bowie. If I could pick any maker I would choose Bill Burke for the knife and Paul Long for the sheath.

I'd get the Cold Steel Natchez Bowie in San Mai as a show piece. But I'd take the same knife in SK5 to use the hell out of. It ain't practical at just over 11" blade length but it is one bad looking knife.

i would use them both, beat the hell out of them,or a trailmaster really a hard knife to beat.

The Big Bowie from Church&Son. Randy has a very unique style.

I own several (bowies?)....when it comes to a big bowie kinda job,im always drawn back to my first one...11 inch blade of L6...1/4 inch thick convexed SVORD workhorse...i bought this in 1990 and its been VERY well used..

If "reasonable price" = slightly less expensive than my car, then

A Don Hanson custom for sure, Damascus steel, fossilized walrus ivory or similar, sub hilt... and a gun safe to keep it in. :D

He has also offered some older knives of his for sale here on BladeForums:

If I could afford it, I'd get something made by Jason Knight or Russ Andrews. I think they make some of the finest Bowies around.

shane sibert.JPGMine would definately be this one by Shane Sibert:thumbup::thumbup::cool:

as i keep mine for defense rather than general camp duties, and have limited budget, i like my hanwei bell spearpoint bowie. i prefer the traditional look. would like a pattern welded one. (it does have a false edge on the spine side)

for general camp duty i use this katana-sharp japanese style bowie.

the SP10 Ontario Marine Raider is a great chopper-combining modern materials with a classic look into a workhorse of a knife.
I'd reaally like one of these though.-Reg Cooper from Sheffield

Unlimited funds?

Oh, that's easy. Jerry Fisk's Southwestern Bowie.

Wow, what a knife.

4. Nick Wheeler Fighter (Paranee Design)

The design goals of combining BIG power AND speed in a compact, portable fighting knife were admirably achieved here. This series has a bit more variation as to handle material and blade finish, so I have selected two knives to represent the series, from the most basic (synthetic handle, belt finish) to the most fancy (premium wood, active hamon). Again, a vote for any knife in the series will be a vote for the whole series.

RogerP described well. Not huge but NICE!

This is from RogerP's thread:

I don't like Bowie knives and the only reason I'm replying to this thread is to let the whole world know it.

That said, buying a Bowie with "no limitations"?

I'd get this one.

I'm in line for a Matt Lamey damascus bowie with an 11" blade, redwood burl handle. I told him to make it intimidating. I don't think he can do otherwise:)
