If you won $250K post tax would that change your knife buying habits?

Wouldn't matter much to me- my wife would spend it on new furniture.

I might buy a few more knives, but mostly not obscenely expensive ones.

I would probably buy a few Spyderco sprints that are only obtainable at high prices, as well as a few discontinued Benchmades. I might buy a few other knives just to try them out, not even expensive ones just things like a Contego for instance.

I would like to have one really good handmade custom Bowie.

I'd buy a Todd Rexford (one for sale on a forum for $8,000) or a Stan Wilson and put the rest in the bank.

No: it would not change my habits. That kind of money are not big enough for that. I would probably treat myself to a few new knives, but they would be very likely from the same range that I am used to even now: below $300 apiece.

I'd buy a couple of Shiragorov's and a RJ Martin, and would buy a handful of Spyderco Southards for Christmas gifts.

$50k in the bank and buy more land!!!

I'd probably spend $5k-$10k on knives. Getting ones that I've always wanted, but could never justify spending "$X" on.

I'd get a couple of customs (Normal and large lightweight PPT from Thiel and a 3.5" bladed Techno from Martin Slysz. All with a few extra scale options. Not much else I really want that I haven't bought..

Might buy a Tesla S with the rest or pay of the mortgage on the house...

I am only NOW mulling over the first knife purchase north of the $100 mark. That said, with a windfall like that, I'd probably help support a couple of the custom makers in purchasing some of their traditional designs. Just a couple, however. The rest would go toward a house, and other sundries.

I'd pay off my student loans and use the rest towards a house, prolly pull out about 10k to furnish the house and buy some toys, some would be knives yes

I'd give family some money, buy myself a pm2 and a custom fixed blade, than take a 2 week vacation where it's warm.

I'd buy a few new knives, not really too many more I want. Most of the money I would spend on land for a range and more ammo.

Did someone insinuate that someone has already spent $25K on knives? That's AWESOME in a sick, sordid kind of way! I just couldn't imagine doing that.

Ok I have to reveal, so the reason I ask is that a client was really happy with my work and they offered me 50,000 stock options. I was kind of shocked. Needless to say my Company's counsel ixnayed that idea as we are public company. So now they are trying to figure out something else. I was somewhat shocked at the generous offer and something that has never ever been done for me ever. So I just had a small fantasy a what if, if that were to actually happen. All in all though, I don't think it would change the way I EDC.

I'd probably go a little retarded (cuz hey never go full retard) I mean i'd definitely get every piece Daniel Winkler makes. Some Busse's and maybe get Jason Knight to make me one of those inasnely awesome kukri's, and definitely buy out the entire HI catalog.

I would. Mostly because I could be debt free with that amount. That being said. I'd probably own a different house or a second house.

It would change my buying habits, yes, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't still buy every knife currently on my list, including the ~$25-35 cheap ones...Also, I would pick up a CRK (a knife I probabily won't otherwise own) and a strider and some William Henry's for dress-up, maybe a swamp rat or two but the majority of it would be spent of real estate...

Oh and an AUG A3 with a mini-ACOG TA26 (I'd also buy nice glass for my other rifles as well), but again I'd spend the vast majority on a nice home for my family and then a couple rental properties for continued income.

Cool thread...

I'd buy a few new knives, not really too many more I want. Most of the money I would spend on land for a range and more ammo.

Can I come play? (I'll bring my own guns & ammo) I just need somewhere to shoot that's not a public range with an uptight range officer (not that I want to do anything unsafe, but I've got several pounds of explosive target and who doesn't enjoy a mag dump or two, nothing like blowing $30 of ammo in 5 seconds)

I would probably pick up a Sebenza, and either a SCAR 17 or a Larue PredatOBR in .308, a SG3000 both with nice glass, and there is one outrageously priced knife I would like to buy if I had that kind of windfall - a Rockstead DLC fixed blade. So that's a little less than 10k in luxury purchases for myself, all most of those things would retain their value fairly well so it would be as much an investment as wasteful spending. I'm actually more confident investing in functional modern firearms now than stocks, and they have a better return than bonds even if you use them.

Make that 1 million and you might see the purchases get a little wilder.

+1 on the LaRue, I'd get one of those as well, as for knives...I think I'd get a Busse & a couple Bark Rivers I have my eye on.

Yes, definitely.
I would buy an XM-18, Strider SNG and SMF, a Large and Small Sebenza, another Adamas to beat on, a few GECs, ZT 300 and 561, and a Three Sisters Forge beast.
And save the rest.
