If you work in an office what knife/knives you carrying today?

SAK (Yeoman) and a one-handed locking folder which can vary from day to day. Some favorites include the Leek, Blur, Skyline, Delica, Caly3, Mini-Grip, and 940. Today was a Gayle Bradley.

Carrying a Strider SMF CC in CPM 3V, a Large Sebenza 21 Insingo w/ Carbon Fiber inlays, and a Bill Coye Custom Whiskey 2. :D

My set-up usually looks like this. The Vic Rambler is always on my keychain, the Small Insingo is pretty consistent, but I tend to rotate my slippies almost daily...

Never a modern folder. Usually a Douk Douk, Boker Congress or some sort of traditional. I've learned that modern folders look intimidating because they just do. The only exceptions are any Spyderco smaller than the Manbug. I've found that Benchmades or ZT are out of the question because the black grips give it the tactical vibe.

The fixed blade stays in my attaché case, the rest are in my pockets.

GEC 62 - Easy Pocket Congress
GEC 15 - Boys Knife
Kershaw 1840 - Shallot
Kershaw 1660 - Leek
Spyderco LBK3 - Ladybug
Spyderco C11 - Delica

Mr. Gayle Bradley in the house, er office.

Opinel no. 8 today. Sporting a newly acquired forced patina from mustard.. Soon to be replaced by a RAT model 2 with orange scales I got coming my way, can't wait!

I also work in an office. I don't have a huge need to carry a knife, but I do make use of it at least once or twice a day. That said, the people that I work with know that I'm a "knife guy", and my knives get borrowed a lot. I wear a suit at work, which greatly influences the knives that I carry.

  • No sharp edges or tangs, as I have found (the hard way) that these eat through suit jackets and pants. That means no Delica, and pretty much no "traditional" folder (including one of my favourite knives, the A.G. RusselL Barlow).
  • No pocket clips. IMHO, doesn't look right on a nice suit. I prefer to carry my knife inside my right outer jacket pocket.
  • I've found that a brightly coloured knife, or a knife with a brightly coloured lanyard (if you can even call them lanyards - see the pictures below) goes a long way towards making knives "acceptable".

I keep these 5 knives in my desk at work, and rotate between each of them fairly regularly, although the Victorinox Executive probably gets the most use, followed closely by the Small CF Sebenza. Left to Right:

  • Red Alox Victorinox Cadet.
  • Victorinox Executive. FANTASTIC office knife; it has small great scissors, as well as slotted and philips screwdrivers, along with a small and medium knife blades (about 1" and 1.75").
  • Spyderco Dragonfly. This is a nearly perfect office EDC knife. I prefer the ZDP-189 blade, but the Orange FRN handles.
  • Small Carbon Fiber Sebenza.
  • A.G. Russell Gentleman's Frame Lock. This is a knife that I think more people should know about. It's incredibly thin; thinner than the Small Sebenza, with about the same blade size. It has great fit&finish. My only complaint is that I wish the handle didn't have the "bump" at the tail end.

This is what id like to carry to deal with office pukes today: well ok then. OP did said today.

Himalayan Imports Micro Bowie (Bawanna Bowie). This is the one mentioned earlier in this thread designed and checkered by a forumite friend of mine here (Bawanna)! Fabulous EDC! Beautiful beavertail sheath is by Pugs75 on this forum as well! This is my default carry rig. Large enough to dismember my desk and small enough to pick my nose:D
There are a handful more I carry depending on my attire and how many puke meetings I have that day.

CS Pocket Bushman-Vic Hiker-Gerber Ripstop (Discontinued =c )
pocket bushman is huge but when you work at a heavy equip. salvage yard you need it . its a lil overkill for shipping and packing tho lol

Here recently been going back and forth between the ZT 801 and the 560bw. I usually pair it with a SAK Manager and I have a mini folding utility knife on my keychain. From time to time I will also have a small fixed blade on me.

I don't work in an office consistently but I do contract IT work for quite a few office style businesses, mostly banks and insurance offices. Most of the clients I work around know I am a gun/knife nut and I know some of the officers and presidents that carry larger fixed blades and smaller edc blades on them.
