If you're on the fence about a bk15...

Man you guys are doing some serious hoarding. I think I am going to have to buy one though if you guys didn't already buy all the stock. All I really need is one not 5. Hehe :D

Jeese guys, your scare tactics worked. I went ahead and ordered 4 of them. Hehe kidding, I only ordered one, but it is your guys fault.:D I guess I have been looking for an excuse to order one.

Last I heard that was still just a rumor.

Rumor or not I found one for $45 shipped. Can't complain with that.

It has been confirmed that 1.) the 5 and 15 are slow sellers and 2.) the price has been lowered on both. Now it seems to me that most folks don't give them a second look but the ones that try them like them so maybe the lower price will convince more people to give them a try and sales will pick up. Or maybe Ka-Bar is trying to move unsold inventory and the models are slated to be discontinued. Until I hear for sure from OKB or Ethan I'm not going to concern myself with it.

Well I found a BK-15 for $39 shipped so I canceled my previous order and got this one. Hehe that is so cheap for this knife.

They are wonderful blades ........ It is been my observation that a bunch of us are aesthetically displeased with trailing point knives ........ But, dammit they really work for a lot of tasks....... The Five, which was designed by the Great Jerry Fisk has taught me a lot about knives that I did not know....... If you are interested in the study of how knives actually work the five can teach you a whole bunch about edge geometry, balance and how a blade should perform...... They were a bargain at full retail just as an advanced cutlery course........ I have always felt that they were the sleeper in my line...... The fifteen is just a very handy blade.........A friend of mine who is a third generation trapper and a hell of an outdoorsman took a Fifteen to Wyoming with him this fall and used it out of the box to field dress and butcher two elk, a mule I deer and two antelope and a couple of buckets of grouse and allowed as how he did resharpen when he got back to Tennessee...... He has used a lot of blades and this is his favorite so far......

Both are a Hell of a deal......

I just ordered a 15,I think I'll see if I can strip it and use it in the kitchen. My first "larger" Becker,I have a 14 and 24.

Think I may have snagged last one at that price - present for my brother who will spending the summer in Alaska working at a hunting/fishing lodge.

Figured this was the best all around camp knife and at that price it was a no-brainer.

Just ordered a 15 for $39 incl. shipping. Can't wait. Love trailing point designs. Would get a 5, but I have a Dawson that fills the role of such a large blade, and the 15 will get much more use. Am thinking about cutting out some elk antler scales for it.

Got mine for $39 shipped. It came in today. My first Becker. I haven't put it down since I opened the box, which has made typing this rather frustrating. One hell of a knife. I actually cut myself on the box while unpacking it. You know you're dealing with a serious blade when even the box cuts you. Very impressed.

Congrats on the new steel man, great blade.

If anyone wants, I can send them the link I got mine from. Email me at classicalequitation (at) gmail.com. [Mods, is this OK? If not, I'll delete post.]

Get em while you can!

The more I use my 15 and 5 the more I love em. Been swapping them into my EDC rotation on weekends:thumbup:

That's just a case of not seeing the forest for the trees...

In all honesty, you picked up a Great knife. I use mine daily at work. You will love it.

Welcome to the fold!

Don't know whether this is truly indicative of the interest level, but the BK-15 page on the Ka-Bar website has only one review. Its an excellent one that gives highest marks, but it's the only one there. <sigh>

Prices on these things are really enticing, but I just don't know what I would use it for. Not that I know what I'll use a lot of my knives for, but I just don't get a must have feeling from the 5 or 15.
