I'll be Boycotting CRKT

This is one of those FWIW posts.

I'm just speaking about the knives I designed for CRK&T and I don't have the numbers handy, but their web site shows them. The knives with AUS8 steel far outnumber the others.

All the aluminum and titanium models of the M16/M21 have AUS8 steel.

The F4 neck knife has 420J2.

The zytel handle models are their lower price point ones and they have AUS4.

Isn't it common for businesses to have a low and high price point item? I know with cars, tools, machines and other things around me there are. I've got an Enco lathe (economy) and a really nice Hardinge lathe (professional). World of difference in the price points of them. Both do the particular job I bought them for.

Hope you guys had a great day.

Kit

I sure did. I'm still having a great day too.

Thanks for chatting with all of us Kit. I had no idea that the knife makers/designers frequented this place. That's pretty neat.

For the record I've never had any CRKT so I don't know anything about them. I prefer not to base my knowledge off of heresay. :)

I have a couple of crkt bwana folders. Used them for dressing out big game and they were darned good hunting folders and much better than some that have gotten a lot of hype advertising and cost 2 or 3 times as much. Ergonomics were extremely good as was overall design. Blade was 6M which was fine with me, given the price, although I would have preferred to pay more for 8M. With 4M, I'm not interested. I don't use "tactical" knives so don't care what steel is used for them. End of crkt purchases for me.
