This is one of those FWIW posts.
I'm just speaking about the knives I designed for CRK&T and I don't have the numbers handy, but their web site shows them. The knives with AUS8 steel far outnumber the others.
All the aluminum and titanium models of the M16/M21 have AUS8 steel.
The F4 neck knife has 420J2.
The zytel handle models are their lower price point ones and they have AUS4.
Isn't it common for businesses to have a low and high price point item? I know with cars, tools, machines and other things around me there are. I've got an Enco lathe (economy) and a really nice Hardinge lathe (professional). World of difference in the price points of them. Both do the particular job I bought them for.
