I'll bet this starts some trouble!

"...Well, well, well... I see my initial prediction was right on the money.

In case you didn't notice, this little exercise...."

Since I carry both, I have read this entire thread and noted the arguments both pro and con with interest. Lots of good info - despite the occasional personal sniping.

In your original post, I actually had some sympathy for your argument/complaint. Not support, but sympathy - I could understand how you came to feel that way.

However, to this "explanation" of your intent, all I can say is - what a load of B.S.

Lemon-aid. The latest folding knife I ordered does not have a lock at all. The cutting I do with a knife, does not require one. I wanted a simple folder, and I don't think you can make a folder any more bare-bones, than a friction-folder. This Thread was, in a way, about the older style, simple folders. I was already squeezing the lemons when I read it.

Well, well, well... I see my initial prediction was right on the money.

In case you didn't notice, this little exercise had much more to do with people than with their choices in knives. I read all the responses, but I didn't break them down into categories. I'd have to say, though, that fully 50-75% of you spoke volumes about your own personalities, even the one who bills himself as a super-duper something-or-other. Be proud.

Ah yes, but of course you did not realize that our replies were simply a test to verify what we all met about and discussed in regards to your initial inquiry. After examining this reply, we have confirmed our initial assumptions.

You have a compulsion to only have very very small knives, like a sodbuster, and are drawn to those because it's diminutive size is in keeping with your physical traits and deep seated insecurities. You HATE big "knives", because all they do is remind you of your MUCH smaller, err, ahem, "knife".

Thank you for your participation, we did enjoy this little (oops, sorry about that) experiment. And we are truly sorry for your small pre-dick-ament (oops-sorry again). You may want to stay up late and catch a couple of those infomercials - there are some products that can help you through this.

All I have to say is that in the Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades forum, there are a bunch of really nice folk.
And there is no bias against anyone who carries a different style of knife.
And the Mods would have closed this ages ago.

Do a lot of you fight your way home from school every day through radioactive landscapes and apocalyptic scenarios filled with mutants, zombies, terrorists, and drug-crazed killers of every other known persuasion?

Naw, up here it's polar bears and ice monsters.
It's a tough world out there, eh?

Reminds me of the old side of Pittsburgh many many years ago...

:D

No, but I watch a lot of those movies. It gets you paranoid after a while.

Not to mention that I am a Marine, so I actually need a knife that is capable of extreme use. However, that means I carry a fixed blade. Folders are for your EDC in civilian attire, or as a backup and for smaller jobs. In a folder I want something that stays sharp and is easy to resharpen, and doesn't feel like a brick in my pocket.

I always like the look for a slippy. I'm thinking of picking up a Remmy upland special this weekend.

BUT, they are a pain to open. I work with chocolate, and the grease on my hand makes it difficult to open even with 2 hands. My spyderco opens and close with one, so i don't have to put down whatever i just cut. Pocket clips means i'll only have a grease lip on my pants pocket, so my entire pocket isn't filled with chocolate. Don't know if you consider these to be "tactical", but to me at least, the delica/ grip/ leeks ARE the modern day equal to the slippy of y'ore.

Don't really care for the full blown digi cam, tiger striped tactical fatties tho. They are just too thick all around for my taste. But you can be sure that when i actually meets someone in real life with a ZT in their pocket, I'll be sure to stop and say hi to a fellow knife nut.

how does one go about applying for a job like this :D

and the other question, is gastric bypass covered in their insurance, or hmm your in canada right, nvm about the insurance then
