I'm cursed with Hinderer

I actually had a story opposite to most. I had someone break in my car. I had my Hinderer XM-24 Skinner sitting in the cup holder where I put all my change as well. They moved the knife out of the way and stole all my change. If I find who did it I think I will thank them. $5 in change gone and a $595 knife left behind!

Haha, makes you wonder why they even bothered to break into the car in the first place if all they stole was $5 in change... Not the brightest thief I'd imagine!

Used to loose a SAK every couple of years, then I put a $2 red lanyard on and I've had the same one over 20 years!
Thieves are another matter, I engrave my stuff, especially tools. Engraving discourages thieves.

Some companies send springs for free.

You don't want to let go do you. Ok, you get Microtech to send you anything dude.....then figure out how to open the knife without the tools. Oh yeah.....you can't.

Man, given the trust that firefighters have to have for each other, getting your knife stolen out of the House sucks even worse than just losing it. As Ted and others have noted, sometimes you're sure that something was somewhere when it was actually misplaced and it shows up later. Here's hoping for that in your case, but it's the unknowns that drive you nuts in the meantime. I know it takes me a long time to get over a loss and stop looking and obsessing.

Sorry about your Hinderers, Nfd, and sorry that you'll be looking at your fellow workers differently now.
