Spyderco I'm dumping my Para 2, am I crazy?

I do like the knife, i want to be clear on that. However it just doesn't fit in my system. I live in a densely populated area, and I feel that the blade is too big for most of the sheep around here for EDC. I also just prefer a 3in blade for that anyway. My two delicas on the other hand are perfect.

I like lots of knives, but I know what works for me generally. I'm a big fan of the Delica sized knives for regular carry. It is my standard that I compare all new potential acquisitions to in terms of size.

I've had a PM2 for years and I've never warmed up to it. My Manix 2 and Native 5 models get most of my pocket time. I don't really care for the compression lock, and I'm not enamoured of the PM2 blade shape.

The PM2 may be the best all around edc folder for the money currently on the market, but that opinion certainly isn t unanimous. Note the above posts.
Look at a Native 5 lw. Certainly comparable to the Delica with a nice steel.

I've been getting more into the slip joint world as well lately and I think I'm going to liquidate the Para 2 to fund an acquisition in that realm.

I think this is true, which is why I'm so on the fence with selling the thing. I think that if I had one in a more neutral color way I would just throw it in the top drawer and carry it periodically. It is definitely a really really nice knife. But for whatever reason I don't reach for it and always carry something smaller whether is for every day or to accompany me on a hunt with a larger knife

Ahh... slip joints. Started there..... hard for me to ever turn completely away from them to modern knives. Last year, the majority of my knife purchases were GEC made slip joints.

The Delica model is my comparison for modern knives and why I was drawn to the ZT 0770CF and Steel Will Mini Cutjack (G10 and M390 version). Really like both of these knives.

You could sand the digicamo off to reveal the natural G-10 underneath. Not sure about the blade though, I'm sure there's methods to remove DLC.

I say sell it only if you have no attachments to it. I'm a big fan of downsizing when applicable.

Me too! First couple of knives I was given when I was very young were little slip joints! And then I moved on to more modern knives as far as folders were concerned. But now I'm getting back into more traditional knives.

I used a slip joint (jack knife) for many years as my primary hunting knife to do most everything short of butchering. Many mention cleaning.... never been particularly a problem for me regardless of what blood or gore gets on the knife.

You really can do a lot with them. I've always brought a separate fixed blade with me but that's just me.

I do too now, but not years ago when I was pinching pennies more.

Amen to that. I once found a knife in a creek and took it home andnsanded the rust off. I oiled it up and carried it for 3 years until I was aged 16. I lost it on a camping / crabbing trip. Man I wish I had pictures of that knife.

Same here. PM2 is to big EDC.
Gets no use. I might use if I need a big knife.
Please try Para 3. Perfect size for EDC.

Maybe you can trade yours.

id let it go; you can always get another in the future if you change your mind, and theres so many different versions to choose from...

I also never really cared much for the PM2 for EDC. I always thought that the handles on the PM2 are longer than they need to be but it is a great knife and I would never have any reason to sell mine. IMO this is the reason for the PM3. Some people dont want the long handles and dont need the full blade when it comes to EDC. I like a knife I don't feel in my pocket. Try a PM3 or Benchmade 940.

I could see a Military for me in lue of a fixed blade when on a quick hunt for me. And some of those limited versions are very attractive.

On that note, I was recently in your predicament, considering whether to get rid of my PM2 (same config. as yours), and decided to give the Military a try. I picked up the KSF S90V/CF & Ti exclusive Military and threw the PM2 in a field bag. The military is very nice and could surely replace a fixed blade in a pinch, while still allowing finely controlled cutting with the the multitude of grips that the large handle and blade allow, but it does dwarf the PM2 almost comically. I honestly prefer the Delica over both and carry that with a mid-size fixed blade when working, or I occasionally go with the Military and a traditional.
