Spyderco I'm dumping my Para 2, am I crazy?

I used to collect PM2's and Military models...probably had at least fifty PM2's in all the available steels and thirty Millies. I sold them all but about two...and I may get rid of those soon. It is likely one of the largest selling folder models of modern times, and I marvel at the compression lock of the PM2. However, I have never carried either of these two models.
My normal EDC has been a large CRK Sebenza or Umnumzaan for the last 7 or 8 yrs, and recently I also carry a 3" fixed blade in cross-draw leather sheath...which I REALLY enjoy and use a lot.

No, your not crazy for dumping your PM2. Your taste in color has changed and it is uncomfortable to carry. If you tried to put it back in carry rotation, you would either learn to like it, or toss it aside again. Personally, I see nothing wrong with dumping it, you obviously have legitimate reasons for not hanging on to the thing.

The PM2 is a terrific knife (I own four) but not perfect and not for everyone. If you don't use it and you're not a collector, move it along to the next owner and don't look back. Try out a Sage 5 or Native 5, I think you'd like one of those.

This will sound strange but here goes anyway.

In hand the PM2 feels great. In the pocket with the stock pocket clip, it feels too large. (My hand rubs it as I go into my pocket)
With a deep carry clip I can slide my hand in my pocket and not feel the knife at all. This makes it perfect in the pocket.

I think it may be worth keeping. Quality knives are always good to have. Being a quality in demand knife, it will likely hold value for a long time as long as it is in good condition.

I'm into traditionals more than anything else. But I got a PM2 a while ago and it never really grew on me. I sold it just a couple weeks ago to get a Benchmade North Fork and I don't regret it at all. I think it's the best of both worlds with the wood handle. Like the others said, if you miss it you can get a new one...

If it’s in good shape and you can get good money for it, sell it.

I personally only keep knives that I use. If I had some super rare limited knife, I might think differently, but most of mine are the basic FRN or G10 models (mostly Spyderco amd BM) that are readily available.

I have been contemplating this myself. It is not a size thing for me though. I can acknowledge that is a very good edc knife but, when I reach for a knife in the morning, its never the PM2. I cant explain why and have nothing against Spyderco, its just I don't ever really want to leave the house with it. I keep it only because I feel that every knife "collector" should have one. lol

If you have a knife shop near you, go there first and see if they have the para 3 for hand-feel comparison (the para 2 is fine for me, but I prefer shorter blades and super steels.) If you're in the mood for a small work Spyderco, go for the native 5 (s110v for me). If you're looking for something with a little more pazzaz (i.e. compression lock), go for the para 3. The zdp-189's are great from what I've seen, and will fit your delica nicely. (I really wanted to keep this one in the family).
