I have to say that horn, in general, has got to be my all time favorite handle material. I ain't knockin wood, bone, or synthetics, but horn SPEAKS to me.

Alain just posted a beauty of a chute knife with some exquisite musk ox horn handles, and my buddy Bob just sent me a couple of pictures of an out-of-this-world D'Holder hunter knife with some mind blowing musk ox horn handle material.

So...any o you cats got any horny knives? I'm such a voyeur, I'd love to see them. Pictures, please:)
I must add here; Ed Fowler is probably THE MOST devoted horn handles, I'd sure love to see some pix of his stuff- Jose? Ed? Others?

P.s. Hey Spencer- a Hornet with a horny handle would be sweet indeed...

Lorien - I will try to get a friend to post a couple of images of that " bitchin' " musk ox D'Holder.

The D'Holder My Knife that delander posted has handle composition of musk ox, Stellar's sea cow and German brown amber. Thanks, Del, for helping me out!

the super hi res photo you sent me is amazing.

I think Del had to scale down the big formats I had sent him, so magnifying and cropping the handle may work. I am not digitally gifted, LOL, so you would probably know more than I. When I want a really good image, I always seek out Coop, 'cause he's da man.

the inspiring piece;

Thanks Alain!

Here's one of mine from a while back. Not the same kind of horn as the rest, but it sure is a horn!

Yeah, that stag is awesome, but that buffalo looks like it has some unreal transluscent quality. I love buffalo horn when you get that effect out of it.

Thanks, Roger. I just picked up that My Knife from D' about five weeks ago. He comes up with some wild-ass musk ox now and then. It was the musk ox that made me grab it.

When I did a bunch of work for Walter Halucha as he created www.Latama.net, I also fell in love with horn--of the Italian/European variety.

This particular knife had scales so colorful I ended up purchasing it from him.

These knives thrive on horn in many varieties:
