Dont own one, never wanted one, dont see the appeal. Is there something wrong with me?

If i was to get one wich model would be best. (im guessing the griptilion)

I don't care for them, the axis lock, blade geometries etc.

Had a 610 Rukus but sold it, other large folders [Lone Wolf T3, Ontario Hossom Retribution 1] are much better. I'm trying to get rid of my Presidio tanto right now.

JMO, there are much better functioning and value for the money knives out there. ;)

And let's see how long it will take someone to come in and beat the spy vs. spyderco drum.

I say 12 minutes max. :D

I can't help you, because I am not a fan either. I bought 2 models from them, disappointed by both. Traded one away, and only use my Grip as a beater. The axis lock is fantastic, but that's about the only good thing I can say about their products.

i agree 100% i also would never spend 300+ for one of those Microtech automatic ninja blades.

RE axis locks:The omega springs are tiny. I like knives with strong springs ... make them go CLACK, when snapped open. Benchmades ain't clackin.

After seeing an 11 year old girl slice up 50 bad guys in Kick Ass with 2 benchmade Balisongs
my respect went up a notch.

TheCarbideRat is exactly right... the spring on my 555hg snapped after about 6 months... I cannot say I put a lot of trust in axis locks now. But hey thats what Spyderco is here for :D

I don't care for them either, I have no reason to think of a reason to like them.

Buy the 710 or the Rift. If you don't like either then move on to another manufacturer.

I thought a 440C 551 Grip would be a good starter BM. It came dullas a butter knife - and sat for most of five years - then a 201 Activator+ fb in D2 - it came dull! 0 for 2. A Spyderco changed everything - a Spydie Sharpmaker! In the last year, I have bought fourteen new BMs - many marked down 'old stock' pieces - and all were sharp! I love them now! Never had a failure of anything, either - and lots of AXIS locks, too.

Try a 710... hard to find fault with that one!

Nothing wrong with not liking a company. I, for one, have never had a BM that wasn't as great of a knife I'd expect a production knife to be. I like Benchmade. That being said, I currently do not have any BMs in my collection. They just aren't offering what I want in a knife right now.

my experience with benchmades, they have nice designs the generally feel good in hand. but the 4 i have come across were dull out of the box, NIB, the first one was a BM 530, the omega springs died after a year, and the second was a 913, the 913 must not have been loctited from the factory or something every screw came loose on it. the stop pin would rotate and cause bad blade play. i understand that i could sharpen the knives and loctite them, but for the money you are paying to have a BM i expect it to come sharp and not to fall apart on me. YMMV.

bm knives are usually small enough for edc, use good materials, have really great fit and finish and lockup, are fairly affordable, offer the axis lock, are made in america, are usually stylish and/or designed by a famous designer, and they offer a tons of diversity. they also sell autos, assisted openers, and balis. however, im with you. ive owned a few and they arent for me.

I got my first BM the other day, a Mini-Griptilian.
I love the axis lock, bt is the handle plastic (I have no clue).
But US made, I gotta love it.

I hope the get a Model 51 Bali-song soon too :D

 First you say you don't want one and don't like them. Then you ask which one you should get?

I like benchmade,I have never had any problem with the axis lock, although to the OP I would not get the griptilion go with the 710, plus they are american made, I personally have never had any problem with them,an I would take an axis lock over a liner lock any day,an to me their designs work meaning they can actualy cut a peice of rope with out being reground.;)
