Is there a Knives Anonymous group? If so, is there a 12-step therapy program?

I have become addicted to blades, and it's all your fault (and damn you all for posting those deliciously appetizing knife porn)!!

I have been collecting guns (glocks, AR15s - Black Rifle Disease), but I find myself now heavily into knife research and collection.

Knife collecting is a lot more fun to me, because I use my knives many times more than my guns. I go the the range to shoot my Glocks and AR15s maybe once or twice a month, but I can take my knife out and flick it open to do something useful many times a day.

Thanks to all you peeps, I've spent over 100 hours the last few days / week reading over many hundreds of threads (some as old as 2000), fallen asleep with my laptop on my lap as I dozed off thinking about a knife / thread.

I've disposed of all my cheap S&W knives, ordered a Spyderco Sharpmaker, Al Mar Sere 2000 and Benchmade 710HS, bought a new Spyderco Native s30V, several Kershaw's. Let's just say my wife is not happy!

Now, where can I get some professional help for this problem? :(

:D

I have to agree, opening the mail or a package with a Glock can be kind of messy.

It sounds like you're off to a good start, by doing your research first. Reading the old threads here have a ton of information by some of the the most knowledgeable knife people in the world. Even if you never purchased a knife you could certainly become an expert with what you can learn here.

Now as to your problem, I'm sure advice for a 12 step program has to have been doen here, but as far a a CURE....fagetaboutit.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is an incurable disease!! I will be happy to selflessly take the offending knives off your hands!! Anything to help a fellow knife knut out.

You will find that your condition is chronic, and that there is no cure. There is however a way to alleviate the symptoms. The regular addition of a knife to your collection will keep your condition under control.

You're asking fellow addicts how to get cured??? We think we're the sane and free ones!

Don't think of it as an addiction; it's a commitment. (Or is that a poor choice of words?)

Chris

Buy twice as many knives as you can really afford, and then start selling off half of them, and you'll think you are beating the addiction. :D ;)

Enjoy the fact that this disease/addiction puts a useful tool on your belt/in your pocket.

There will be quiet times when the knife bug leaves you alone: usually while you’re waiting for a $500 knife to be made.

I agree! Curse you BladeForums! :D I've always loved knives, but since I've been a member I've learned so much more. Now, I've got a Sharpmaker, a Spyderco Rescue (cool blue handle) and a Becker Necker on the way. Already looking at a Paramilitary . . .geez it never ends . . . .

I like the denial part of the addiction,it helps me to be a better knife addict.

Rat, what is that knife pictured in your signature?
That looks like an effective design.

Damn, it's contagious.

Is there a cure? Yeah, just get married. It didn't work on me though. :D

A cure? Jeez, I can't even get addicted because I don't have any money. You don't even want to hear what's in my pitiful little collection. :(

I'm pretty sure one of the steps of the 12 steps program would be to stay out of Customs,For Sale by Individuals! :D
