I'm out. For good.

Lots of people joke about their knife addiction, but most fail to realize that it can be very real and destructive if not kept in check.

Forget that.
Whenever you get the urge to slow down on anything, ask yourself one important question:
"How long does death last?"

Now, with that bit of perspective, you can justify whatever makes you happy in life.

Whether Blade Forums leads to an enjoyable and healthful hobby or a destructive addiction depends on what we bring to the forum, not on anything intrinsic to the forum itself. We can smother the symptoms of addiction and change scenery all we want, but if we don’t address the underlying issue, we’re just playing whack-a-mole.

Please get some help, Twindog is right on the money. Any hobby is enjoyable and great stress reliever until we take it to an unhealthy level. Your are certainly on the right track of recognizing that there is indeed a problem and are willing to make changes in your life, wish you all the best!

Just note this: Colorado area has the highest population of knives for sale on Someone's List in my searches, so you may be moving into the thick of it

Good luck and all the best.
When a great hobby turns into a stressful obsession, then it is indeed time to reflect.
I will say this however, you may find as you walk the road of life, your tastes and tolerance to urges and whims will change, therefore this could be something you could re approach at a later stage in your life. Never say never and don't close those doors too tightly behind you.
You know you have a tight knit here that you could always come back to.
Cheers

I salute you!
were is the will there is a way
me I just don't have the will (I kid I do, and I think that I am in control for now)

Been there done that with many hobbies, passions in collecting. You may part ways with knives, but it will be replaced with something else. If your lucky the replacement will be a passion for work, life, family, and fun..........good luck.

Good luck to you on your journey. Denver is nice...some good people there...and everywhere. Beautiful state. Younger folks love it; hiking, fishing, etc.

So when do you start?

Good luck to you. Sounds like you are moving in the right direction.
I often wonder about the 70+ folders that I have and my Father who lived to be 88 with one Case Barlow.

Just do the math.
If your dad made it to 88 with one knife, you'll live to be 6160 years old with 70 knives. ;)

Good luck, and always a good move as long as you feel your done!

This is unfortunate.

Whatever happened to everything in reasonable moderation? Consider scaling things back before cutting them out of your life completely.

Regardless, best of luck.

I understand what you talking about. Within month or two I dropped over 3k on this obsession. It's all Spyderco's fault.
I sleep and see knives. I think about knives. I eat, watch movies with notebook in my hands. My gf slowly getting replaced by knives....and I made her believe that she need Spyderco Kiwi.
Wow, I am a sick, sick man.
