Improvements the 25 made to the 21

I also like the hump on the 25. My thumb sits perfectly on it, not overextended or anything and the jimping is perfect for me. The finger groves also feel like they fit my hand perfectly.

When I only had 21s I thought, this is the cat's meow. Then I got the 25, and I was like. I didn't even know it could be better, but here it is.

Since I previously weighed in on this topic after just checking one out at a shop, I wanted to give an update after getting a 25 of my own and having it for a week. I'll compare it to my Lg Insingo Micarta 21. I'm not sure it will be a 25 vs 21 reply, but a "what I like about the 25".

Since I didn't get micarta on this one, I like that it is a little beefier in the grip. I was surprised at the comfort of the grip/finger grooves after being in hand for some time. I wouldn't say they are better/worse than the 21, but they aren't a hindrance as I originally thought from holding a short time at a shop. The blade shape has really grown on me.. it reminds me of a shark head for some reason. Love the dual thumb studs and the ability to actually use them both (right and left handed). The jimping is awesome! It's aggressive but I like the feel and look. I like the added variety the thicker blade adds in the 25. Overall it does feel more HD than the 21. Jury is still out on the traditional pivot of the 25 as I'm a big fan of the 21 pivot bushing. As far as looks, I still have to give it to the 21. All that said, the 25 is going to be on my hip for some time to give it a fair go and see how it does with long term use.

Thanks for sharing your experience Hawk. I hope you enjoy it, and if you prefer the 21 at the end of the day, nothing wrong with that.

Wow. Exactly how I feel about the 25. Word for word. Especially the sentiments on the pivot.

Ceramic ball in the lock bar interface, do you agree?

Not necessarily, as it concentrates the contact point into just that, a point. Therefore, logically, it would almost certainly have to wear the blade's contact surface at an accelerated rate as compared to a broader contact area. As far as lock stick is concerned, I've long preferred a moderately "sticky" lockup on RIL's and Walker-types.

I've been around the block numerous times on the 25, and have owned about a half dozen of them. Eventually, I worked my way back to zero, as I have come to the conclusion that the 21 is the epitome of a Sebenza for me, and I MUCH prefer the Umnumzaan to the 25 in every way, thus covering my adjustablepivotceramiclockup needs.
