(in)Complete list of Kershaw knives

I noticed the Fixed Tone, 3431X at Academy recently. Didn't see this model number listed in the list. I DID see a 3430 though. Is this a typo in the list or another with two model numbers?

I have both the 'Tone' 3430 and the 'Fixed Tone' 3431 (thank for your picture, I didn't know what it was called ) Here is what they look like next to each other:

I'll probably go pick up the 3431 this weekend. Just cause I need another Kershaw. I wouldn't mind paying another $10-$15 if it came with a better sheath though. The sheaths are the only thing that I don't like about the Kershaws. But I rarely carry a knife on my belt anyway.

Looks like the original Shuffle with black handle is the 3800. Kershaw's site specifies Steel: 8Cr13MoV or 3Cr13, bead-blasted finish.

The pink handle is the 8700PINK, the white (snow) handle is 8700SNOW and the black handle with the black blade is the 8700BLK. Not sure if the metal is different from the 3800. Kershaw's site doesn't say what the blade metal is on these three. I'll have to check what is written on the blades when I get home.

YOU MEAN THE BLACK SHUFFLE IS OUT!?! I need that for my all-black collection, thanks!

As far as the 3430 folding and 3431 fixed tone, I'll add the 3431X. I have the 3430, not the 3431. Why they have an "X" after the model number when they aren't listed that way on the blade I am not quite sure...

I think the "X" just means that it's packaged in a blister package instead of a box.

You may well be correct, and the "Vapor III Black plain blade (1655BLKX)" which comes in a blister pack supports this (besides not being an Academy Sports exclusive), but I'm pretty sure I have some Kershaws that were blister packed and the packing didn't include the "X", so they would seem to be inconsistent in their use of this.

Oh, the minutia I obsess over...

Has anyone seen the thistle. Looks like a pretty cool knife. As far as the shuffle goes I believe that the 3800 is 3cr and the 8700 is 8cr. My brother in law and I both have one and they are exactly the same except blade steel his is the 3800 and mine is 8700

Regarding the Thistle, I think it is a cool and valid concept, but I personally don't need a huge button in place of accessing the liner lock in the usual manner.

I knew I read it somewhere before. Download their 2013 catalog, it's on page 8.

Yeah, like I don't already have that downloaded! I just wish I could find more than the 2013 and 2014 Kershaw catalogs, I've got downloaded catalogs for other companies going back to 1993 (special props to Cold Steel and CRKT for excellent past catalog availability, SOG and SpyderCo aren't bad either)!

Anyway, I appreciate you pointing that out, but at least in my catalog, it is on page 3 (I'm expecting that was a typo on your part, unless there are multiple catalog versions...).

I would be kind of worried I would hit button. Its pretty big but I really like the overall look of the knife.

Looks like it's page 8 of the PDF copy I looked at but it's actually numbered page 3. I see no reference to it in the 2014 catalog.

My understanding of the button is it is basically intended to prevent newer and/or younger knife users from having to use put their finger in the path of the blade by unlocking in with the liner lock, which seems a smart concept, we'll just have to see how much demand there is for it. Kershaw always provides a lot of choices and choice is never a bad thing (Schrade is doing the same thing now days, but they almost overdo it, producing ten different variations of each knife... a bit of an exaggeration, but...)

Ok, I'll agree with you there, if you count the pages including the cover, it is page 8, but it is numbered page 3, so we are looking at the same thing...

...and the black handle with the black blade is the 8700BLK.

By the way, nolaradio, you took that picture at Academy Sports correct? They have the new colored Shuffles listed on their site, but nobody else I have checked seems to have them yet, so they seem to have been given a jump on these. Even the Kershaw website still lists them as "coming soon"...

Yep. It was Academy. They had at least half a dozen of each of the three. Ended up walking out with the white and the pink. I suppose I'll get the black shuffle and the 3431 tomorrow.

All three of the 2014 Shuffle family safe and sound now at my home.

ENVY! I'm in California and don't even know what Academy Sports is, other than the company I ordered my Exclusive Tone folder from. Gotta order that black Shuffle for my all-black Kershaw collection (probably add the Tone fixed too...). :excitement:

(Oh, and I notice those have the "X" clam package model number...)

I think the furthest west that Academy has a location is in Texas. And no offense, but I gotta ask... Are you in California by choice? :)
