In My Opinion, Still the King

Not mine. I wish it was, but I bought it before I knew anything about grinds and what I might like or why. One guy told me that mine is called a saber grind. Never heard of it, honestly, but I deeply loathe it.
It's an older model that you have. They are FFG now, excellent cutters. Some folks have griped that the saber grind version had a more robust tip, which I could see, but I think the FFG is overall better.

Yeah, they make saber grind Delicas, and I much prefer the full flat grind. These days, the FFG Delicas are much more popular and common.

Wish I had found one back when I bought this. But, in all honesty, I wish I had never bought it regardless. I really don't like Spyderco knives. I hate the handles/grips and the opening and the locking systems. They just aren't what I want in a knife at all. I should really just give it to one of my friends so I can stop obsessing over how much I hate it. Lol

They make a variety of different models with various handle shapes and materials. Could it be you mean to say, you don't like their classic models, such as the Seki line and the staple Golden models/leaf blades? Or you specifically hate all of the handles and locking systems, which pretty much include most lock types?

Never bought a knife that looks like the delica. Don't like the handle shape and the sharp pointy blade or the big hump with a hole in it. Everyone says they are excellent knives, they probably are, I just don't care for their appearance. I like the old pocket knife look, don't care for fixed blades with big belly blades. Too much of a traditionalist I guess, I'm happy with my SAK's and my new Buck 303 cadet. I do have a huntn-fischer on order. The SRKT schf55 isn't too bad a knife for me.

Its a great spyderco that i sometimes throw in the pocket without a clip. Its that old school backlock with good blade retention for safety with new school one handed operation features and its not fancy and doesn't require a pocket sheath. Can close it in one motion pretty much no need for axis lock. Feels great without a clip and i like using it.
Other times i carry keys with leatherman squirt on them and my other clipped knife options get to ride the pocket.
I find them pretty. Looks like angel wing when closed. The scales also remind me of something spyderman. It fits the spyderco name.

I bought more than one Delica and just couldn't get into them because for me, to feel like I'm really in control of the knife, I need all four fingers solidly around the handle, and the Delica is a little too short for that, as are many otherwise fine knives. For EDC, I like me a Cutjack, BM 940-1, Ruike P801SF, or full-sized Griptilian (with upgraded scales, since the stock ones are kind of sharp).

You ever try an Endura?

I've never owned a delica. I just recently became interested in spyderco knives. The only one I have currently is a lightweight native 5. I love the knife,it's just a bit small for my hand without using the choil. I am looking at a tenacious for now then a manix 2 for edc. Everyone has their own idea of a perfect edc and for many many people it is the delica. If like to get one someday to try out.

Big fan of the Delica, a delica 3 was one of my first decent knives and I've given at least a dozen of them away. That being said at $74 I find them less interesting and have a hard time not choosing the mini griptilian for an extra $20.

Gotta be about time for a delica 5, something like the last one love child of the stretch and the Delica 4 would hit the spot.

$74 does seem like a lot for the basic Delica, but $108 for the ZDP-189 version is a great deal. I always recommend that option.

Odd. The 940 and Delica have almost identically sized handles.

Please excuse the armslist photo. Its the only one I could find with no perspective issue. The sale is long closed anyway and wasnt mine to boot.

Not liking the handle is fine, but I didn't want potential buyers to think it was smaller than the 940 as your post suggests.

The Sebenza is awesome, but most people end up babying that knife for a reason (its massive price). Not ideal for a real EDC folder in my opinion.
In that case, the Stanley 99E must be King!:D So your idea is that the King must be a pauper? I’ll admit that it is an attractive bullet point of criteria but I would still crown the Sebenza. Even though it isn’t my complete fav. a Seb would be the last knife to leave my, IMO reasonable, personal knife selection.

All others , mere pretenders to the throne , trumped up scullery maids and stable boys !

Cold Steel is the Rightful King of EDC , and there can be only ONE . ;) (IMO , YMMV)
