Inexpensive beater knives

Mine are the Condor inca knifen bushlore
CS canadian belt knife
Spydie tenacious and boker plus yellow lockback. Kissingcrane are good cheap slippies

Bear certainly gets the prize for number of knives where the sheaths exceed double the cost of the steel they house :D Kydex always makes things look so clean doesn't it?

Wrong, I didn't pay for any of them, but I do really love and appreciate them. They do make things look clean and they are better for people who do not clean their knives very much.

Hard to get better price/value knives than the Moras.

I have Vic Farmers that I got for under $30 and a handful of Moras too, but I have seen both so far on this thread.

Don't forget what $10 will get yiou at A. G. Russell:

And a Tram I do't think I paid a single dollar for,.... nope, this one was a gift from a good friend. 'Never made myself a sheath though.:o

Pretty nasty shot, but the two on the left are Green River knives that cost about $6/each when I got them. The Ritter Grip' is another story.

One knife that goes everywhere I go and gets used maybe more than any other is my tried and true Rachel Ray Gusto grip, 6.95 at Bed Bath and Beyond. You would not believe my hunting and fishing buddies that bought one after using mine. Probably like it better than my mora.

Ba-zing! :D

Why do you like that Rachel Ray knife so much?

Check out this review: (lol)

This knife is less than a year old and it got rusty spots on it almost right away. Then, I let it soak in the dishwater once and the handle got all gushy and wierd. Letting it dry for a long time didn't help much. Handle is still mushy and I don't use the knife as much anymore. Would have been nicer with a hard grip handle, instead of this soft grip.

I have a bunch of $30 to $70 knives. For the first 10 years I collected them most of what I bought was in that price range. Many I grew tired of and gave them to people that needed a good knife. It gave me an excuse to buy more too.

Maybe this is part of the issue I have with super steel blades, even though I own a few. Many, if not all, of those beater knives look as good as new and are still razor sharp. They never once let me down. Though some designs worked better than others, the material they were made of wasn't at fault. I too tried the little odd shaped knives, and the big "camp" knives. I figured rather than take someone elses word for what worked best I needed to prove it. :)

Even though I have knives that cost many times more, a couple of $30 knives are still the best knives I own. Both are great designs, and perfect steel for the jobs they were ask to perform.
