Funny, when I read the title of this thread the first thing that popped into my mind was "Kershaw".

I really like the design of that knife, chances are I'll get one as soon as I get some employment. It looks simple, yet built for use. (Which is what I like)

From the high priced, down to the low price; from the expensive, to the inexpensive, Kershaw has all bases covered!!:thumbup: Good post Keith

I love my Skyline (though I wish it had the stone-washed finish that it was advertised as having)!

Regards,

I held one at a store, very well made and a slick opener. They forgot us southpaws on the pocket clip, but otherwise a great knife!

It does look good. Sigh! If a Japanese company can do this in the US using US labor, why cannot a US company do this in the US using US labor?

I can see this is going to go on my short list. Going to have to get one soon.

Maybe its curmudgeonly of me, but I just can't figure out why people even bother considering Chinese, etc. knives when there's such a variety of great knives by US manufacturers in the low prices.

Your knife, at least a handful of other US made Kershaws, the Spyderco Native, the list goes on and on of really high quality US made knives that don't break the bank.

Something told me it would be the Skyline. I like to think of it as a folding paring knife--small, versatile, inexpensive, and endlessly versatile. It's a real go-to piece!

1) Kershaw Leek in any blade steel.

2) Kershaw JunkYardDog I or II

3) Kershaw Storm I or II

4) Buck 55 Mini Folding Hunter

5) Buck 110

Kershaw should be given an award for all the quality USA made knives they still offer the end line user. I didn't even begin to cover them all.

Probably because there actually isn't all that much variety of US made knives on the low end. There aren't many knives fitting the Skyline's specs on the market. When looking at competitively priced quality US made knives, you have some Kershaw, some Buck, and the Spyderco Native. Pretty limited. Bear and Son is still a minor player, for good reason. Slipjoint makers are increasingly aiming at the collector market.

All this could change if the dollar remains weak, making US based manufacturing more attractive. But for now, Chinese manufacturing is very attractive, and only looking better as time passes.

Well I just bought one on line. We'll see what all the fuss is about. I'll keep y'all posted. keepem sharp

I thought this was going to be a thread asking for a knife that filled those qualifications. I opened this thread so that I could recommend the skyline! lol.

The Skyline may very well be the best buy in a knife. I like mine a lot! G10 handle is great and the 13c26 steel holds a good edge and is easy to sharpen. Kershaw is kicking butt when it comes to making FINE KNIVES for a very modest alright cheap price.
