Inexpensive, hich quality, U.S.-made EDC

way things are going there be no more american made knifes unless there 300 dollars a pop and union backed! its about over with!
rough rider, I don't think that's necessarily true, but it is something to be concerned about.

Kershaw just launched 5 knives at the Blade Show that had a MSRP of $60-100, all made in the USA. I should mention they were all custom knifemaker designs as well: Ken Onion, Grant & Gavin Hawk, RJ Martin, and Lee Williams. We didn't offer any knives from our factories in China.

We continue to get more efficient in what we do at the Kai USA factory, and the future looks bright.

Oh, and welcome to the forums!

They are only expensive if your top dollar is going to be $40 to $50. Otherwise they are a heck of a good deal when you consider how much knife you are getting, and this includes fit/finish, materials, and warranty.

A good deal is not always about how inexpensive the product is.:D
Oh, I'm sure they're great knives, and if you need that much knife, they are a great deal.

I can get a knife that meets my needs, has good enough fit & finish, and a lifetime warranty for $20 or less. So the $150-sh ZT knife might not be that great a deal for me. Or someone who is looking at <$50 knives in the first place. The ZT knives just aren't in the same league.

Speaking of good quality knives with a lifetime warranty, Case Sodbuster Jr, <$20.

You can't find tougher for under 40 dollars than the Kershaw Storm. I've used mine (and sharpened it almost daily) to hack brush and thorns away from hiking trails and other than a little staining on the blades it's like new. Held up much better than any other sub 50 dollar knife I'd tried before.

As I said in my first sentence, "it's only expensive if your top dollar is going to be the $40 to $50 range". My top dollar for a few folder's has been in the $500 range, so from my perspective, the ZT's are inexpensive.:D And before anyone says it, I do not look down my nose at the $50 and under range of knives. My current carry is a ZT0500 MUDD @~$150, and a Boker Wharcom @~$30. You know what? that $30 Wharcom does about 90% of what I need a knife to do, and does it well!:D

There are still a lot of folks that think a $30 knife is expensive folks.

True, but I'd venture to guess that not many of them are on these forums, and those of them that are quickly learn that $30 is not all that expensive for a knife. All it takes is reading that first Sebenza thread!:D

Some of us on the forums understand about $350 knives but have kids in college or medical bills or other issues that remove the option of buying them. I appreciate being able to buy a decent $30 knife.

Yes indeed, I consider the Skyline to be the current #1 value for an American made knife, with good quality components, at a VERY reasonable price!

Kershaws and Spydercos. A lot to choose from both companies. Both make excellent knives at great prices.

By the way, in original post.....is that blood on the liner lock?;)

Probably because there actually isn't all that much variety of US made knives on the low end. There aren't many knives fitting the Skyline's specs on the market. When looking at competitively priced quality US made knives, you have some Kershaw, some Buck, and the Spyderco Native. Pretty limited. Bear and Son is still a minor player, for good reason. Slipjoint makers are increasingly aiming at the collector market.

Queen Cutlery under its own brand and other brands manufactures excellent US made knives.
The Queen brand are users...

Good blood spotting! :o I had cut my thumb on another knife and the wound opened up a little when I used the Skyline. I rinsed it out with tap water but should get in there with a small brush.

Being very susceptible to peer pressure, I made a "best offer" on ebay for a Skyline. I only have a zillion folders, so of course I need one more.

As one might expect, the seller has not responded for 36 hours and is making me wait the entire 48 before the response period expires. Curses on it! :p Next time I'll just pull the trigger.

Can't tell from the pics. Does the Skyline come with a stonewash finish or a beadblast finish?

How is the lock on the Skyline? I love the look, size, price, and country of manufacture.
