INFI current vs Old

I seen a guy hack through a deers pelvic bone and destroy a SAR 6’s edge. It looked like a serrated knife from Spyderco after. Lol. I sent it in to the shop for him and they re ground it it out. Came back like new but a tad thinner height wise to get it all out. he said he didn’t trust it and sold it. He is not a knife guy like all us and only bought it cuz I told him about Busse and hyped them up so much so he bought it off me. I felt bad as I know bone is hard on edges but I’ve also done that one time on a deer but with a gen 1 SR-101 SWAMP RAT Howling Rat and was still razor sharp. No damage at all. But the SAR 6 was much thinner type grind from factory compared to most of there knives. I’ve never hurt any of my INFI or SR-101. Yes I’ve had tiny tiny chips but sharpened them out by hand. That knife of his was way to much for that. It needed a belt sander to fix.

I mean, technique is something worth mentioning to… if he’s whacking on some bone and smacking the edge into it at an angle or with twisting motion (or the bone is moving while he’s whacking away), any hardened steel, unless it’s extremely obtuse and thick, would take some damage. It’s all simple physics. That’s also why an unintentional asymmetrical grind is not desirable. Uneven angles leads to uneven forces, which could roll/bend/chip an edge.
