INFI ~ False sense of Security ?

I don't think this is very feasible in most cases, but I remember on one of those stupid "Fox Most XTREME Videos!" shows, there was a big dog that ran out of a yard to attack an investigating police officer. When the dog tried to lunge at the guy, all he did was kick the dog's jaw. Boot to the face. The dog gave up and hunched away, undignified.

He was probably really lucky or exceptionally coordinated that particular day, and I don't mean to take any dog attacks lightly, but just how anti-climactic that was gave me a good chuckle.
 
You really cannot predict how you will react in a situation like that unless your have already... I agree with the others and I think your instincts saved the day. Glad you and your family are ok! I think you would have killed the dog with the knife if it made contact.

Sounds like that dog is a ticking time bomb and something bad will happen eventually... I'd call the police and report it.

I can't say how I would have responded, but I think I would have shot the dog - would have been 124gr +p bonded Gold Dots.
