Oh man it must be getting close to Christmas cause it feels like time is running out on all my little projects I got going on. I just finished a work table and framed up a peg board for my son. I made him his own crafting section in the garage... Next I gotta make a closet book shelf..

still working on it... the Quinoa is almost rice like... or bigger couscous.. but different. We have prepared it with tomato based sauces mainly.. The freekeh we make it, cook and let stand and then we have been adding it to other dishes. Taste kind of like flax seed.. nutty. Kind of like brown rice, which is another good thing to eat.. brown not white. My palate is not as developed as say Ethan's or C-Bears is.. I am using it mainly as home remedy, doesn't taste bad at all. just doesn't taste like tacos and brisket either ;)

so white rice is bad?

LRP rations or LURP rations predated the MREs. They were freeze-dried and you had to add hot water to the bag or just eat them dry.I liked the pork patties eaten dry. They were tasty to me.

We had something similar in Mountain Warfare school in Bridgeport. Seemed every meal was breakfast. Always dehydrated boil in the bag something or rather.

Horrible

Its so highly processed that they have to dust it with vitamin powder man

That's why it says never to rinse it on the bag..

Im not saying your wrong but im not sure what your talking about really. There is no cholesterol in it. And this page says its good for you, but White rice is considered a high glycemic index food or fast carb. This means it is rapidly broken down into sugar in the body. This can contribute to insulin resistance, glucose spikes after eating white rice and was shown that eating white rice five times a week increased the risk for type 2 diabetes. Brown rice is lower on the glycemic index and actually decreases the risk of diabetes for those who ate two servings per week.

It also says to rinse before cooking it.

Just looked on the "myhealthevet" VA website to check out all my latest blood test results and it looks like my bad cholesterol is pretty high.

Looks like bacon might have to be cut from the diet for a while as well as MOST of what i eat. fried chicken, fried porkchops, fried egges... fried anything.... that just sucks.

Its nice to have a wife that reads these results, because i didnt know what the crap meant. Whats not good about that is she wants to change my entire diet to what they tell their patients to eat.

latest thinking i've read:

dietary fat intake (ie: bacon) has little to nothing to do with blood cholesterol

what you want to do is stop eating most grains, like wheat and pasta

REAL rice is okay, processed white rice is not

lower your sugar intake overall, but carbs in general

eat more BETTER fats

Thanks for the information, I didnt know sugar raised cholesterol, i just read about it though.

Man i bet all this soda played a huge role in my high cholesterol.

SO bread is out as well? damn im going to starve to death.

Sweet looking custom:

My wife stores our rice in air tight containers and throws away the bags so no, i went and looked but there is no bags.

But i have been reading on the subject all night, not just rinsing rice but everything to do with cholesterol. And i see what you mean it does say never to rinse on some brands that are enriched in vitamins.

The crazy thing is some sites say that its good to eat rice, even white rice with high cholesterol, some say to avoid it. Most say brown and wild rice is better. Same thing with bread and pasta. some say its a good thing to eat and some say to avoid it. Im finding really conflicting articles all over. literally exact opposites.

I have a guy going to make me some custom scales for a SAK, i just have to pick out which sak i want to have custom scales made for.

The scales might be box elder burl, maybe acrylic, maybe zebra wood, maybe birch root... I havent decided yet. first i need to pick out a SAK. I have a couple SAKs already i might just send him my Wenger.

Are the victorinox better than the wengers ??

Speaking about rice... Ever leave a bag of brown rice in you cabinet for a very long time without opening it? Maggots start to grow.. I took the bag back to trader joes and the manager said oh that happens a lot with brown rice...
