Damnation, Todd. That's some great work. We should talk about a horn-handled hunter sometime.

Murph, Leatherman carabiner bottle opener?

Yes! I've been meaning to get one, maybe after Christmas I'll order one. My two go-to bottle openers are the Skeletool and a credit card style opener I got from the Boston Brewery about 5 years ago.

I do very much like the Ontario kukri. I hear the Ka-Bar is awesome too but I don't have one. Yet...

Yea i have been debating over those 2 for a while, the Ontario's thickness is what really has me leaning that way. Both look plenty good for the price though.

Just got done with getting up a new painting (well, a print of some pop-art painting), wrapped up some gifts and got time to play with my BK5 I got from the exchange.
It was already stripped and seemed like it used to have a patina which was rubbed off with a bit of scotchbrite or something. So I gave it a bit of a darker, spotty colour with some lemon juice. Rinsed the whole thing and added some stripes with curry paste. Stropped it a bit to get the edge shining again. Looks ok, but it's still a work in progress.

Quite honestly, a fair amount of LSD might be a worthwhile investment for everyone involved. It's gonna get weird regardless, might as well go full-goose-loony and bark at the moon while you're up.
Thanks, James! I had completely forgot about the massive amounts of LSD I have laying around.

I've been up since 0500 watching Wranglerstar's videos. This Christmas break has my sleep jacked up, I HATE DAYSHIFT.

The Ontario needs some serious edge thinning WW, but its actually a pretty solid blade. Condor makes a very nice Kukri also, but it also needs edge thinning.
Once you put that work in though they are both pretty fine blades. Not RBKs or anything, but fine blades none the less.
For Kukri, one of my all time favorites is the LTC pattern from Cold Steel. Check out their cheapo, Cold steel Kukri machete. Its gonna need some clean up, like any machete, but its not so far off from an LTC. Just thinner, and not as nice on the handles and QC .

True. I was underwhelmed by the factory edge. The CS Kukri Machete isn't bad.

I dont mind if it comes needing a little work at around 50 bucks, i really just want to try out the "kukri" design/shape.

I also been looking at the cold steel Gurkha Kukri too, that looks really nice as well just cost more.

Best Christmas movies ever, in no particular order. What did I leave off?
Die Hard
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Gremlins
A Christmas Story
Lethal Weapon
Trading Places
Bad Santa
Elf
Friday After Next
Scrooged
Hogfather. Twisted take on the Christmas story (from the Terry Pratchett book).

The difference is subtle, eh?... but distinct. Never confuse a Minnesotan with a Wisconsinite... both will be severely pissed-off (although either might be easily confused...)

:D

My ex-wife's dad was from Wisconsin and her mother from Minnesota. I guess trouble arises when the two interbreed?

I can't sleep. Possible reasons;
My mother-in-law will be here in 6 hours and she's staying 'til Sunday(!)
It's hard to enjoy a holiday cocktail..or ten, when someone is sitting in your living room reading scripture
We can't watch TV or movies that contain cussing, drinking, sex, or blasphemy. This eliminates the television as a source of entertainment.
I'll be in the garage..
Merry Christmas, everybody!

I completely disagree!

First of all, if that someone is reading to themself, I don't see an issue at all. A person reading quietly is not a hindrance to another person having a cocktail or twelve. Sure, they might give you a dirty look if you fart or belch, but ... ... they'll get over it.

More importantly, it's much more fun to drink heavily and discuss Scripture with someone else than it is to drink heavily and ponder Scripture all alone. I strongly recommend both parties drinking and reading and discussing, but honestly, any combination of those will lead to interesting goings-on.

Any questions or concerns, ring me up and put me on speaker-phone. I'll be more than happy to chime in and clear up any misconceptions.
I was gonna comment, DD, but JT came through with the gut buster. Thanks JT. Makes my in-law situation (MIL, FIL, SIL & BIL w/2 kids) look like a flea circus. They're weird, but at least they'll watch TV. And the FIL ONLY watches cussing and sex, while drinking all my beer - I got him his own case to keep him out of my stash this time - and all he reads is the Drudge Report...to me, as if I care.
JT - Reminds me of the Robin Williams bit when the people come to the door to ask "Have you found Jesus?"; he says "I like to meet them at the door naked and say 'No! Come on in, let's go look!'"
I'll say this, DD: you and I seem to have in common that neither of our spouses cares to "protect" us from their family. I don't know what that says about yours, but I'm pretty sure what it says about mine.

Gonna make a bonfire tonight and heat up some hot coco...starting a new tridition this year!

Oh man i got a good laugh from that james!! Not sure if i was suppose to be laughing or not but either way...

I was most certainly laughing when I typed it, so I hope no one else took it too seriously :o :D

However, this isn't the one that I'm most proud of as of lately, I meant to get some pics of it up and posted on my subforum yesterday but ran out of daylight. Maybe today, I hope you'll take a look at it, I always like to hear your take on things.

Cool, I'll keep an eye out for that :)

Cracking up here, thanks for that!

Every now and then I manage to string some words together in a fashion that amuses people. What can I say, it's a gift. :p

Thanks, James! I had completely forgot about the massive amounts of LSD I have laying around.

Remember to keep it in the freezer. Heat and light are bad for it.

I took acid once 20 years ago, and it didn't affect me one bi... oh look, tracers.....

This is the trick I learned with my family. Tell her "Jesus died for my sins, I'm just making sure he doesn't feel under appreciated" :D

James, that was definitely a funny post.

Cocoa is a new tradition? :( Oh I feel bad for you... I <3 cocoa!
